Scald, as a Fire/Water move would have the following effects:

Super Effective against: Ground, Bug, Ice, Steel

Not Very Effective against (x2) Dragon, Water

Neutral: Grass, Fire, Rock, Poison, Normal, Fighting, Ghost, Dark, Fairy, Psychic.

It is literary water at high temperature.There is no process involved. Why should it be fire type? I dont see any oxidation occuring.

We don't have Water attacks that can freeze, so we don't have a "cold water" analogue. There are no Water/Ice Pokemon that can learn the move, so we have an acknowledgement that the move is "hot" aligned. The move can also thaw a frozen Pokemon and has, as anyone who has been hit by it knows, a chance to inflict the Burn status.

Nope. Ferrothorn has a double weakness against Fire and only a single resistance against Water:
4*0.5=2
