Probably. Considering the previous player character companions have only ever worn their outfits from the games (not counting contest outfits) and Dawn didn't even get a new outfit for her BW appearance (since we'd already seen her Platinum design). Serena getting a new outfit seems like it's an ad for something.

It might be a hint that XY2 will take place a couple years after XY much like BW2 but this time instead of new protags we play as slightly older Calem and Serena. There won't be a Z.
