Ultimately people are just going to get bored very quickly. The first Twitch plays was fun just for the shear notion of what was being done. But it lost its novelty quickly. Ill stick around in it for a day maybe just to see how fast it will die this time.

The appeal of this is that the viewers interact with it. You'd never experience playing for yourself in the same way as you do playing with twitch because there's no conflict over what to do next. It's like following politics except watching and "voting" through a video game.

The game is playing and evolving around the clock, you never know what will have happened when you were away at work or whatever. There's always something new developing to keep up with and your control over it is very limited. That's where the fun is.

Democracy killed the whole thing. Originally, finishing the game was in serious doubt. It was an experiment. Crowd controlling the game turned everything on its head. The game became more about getting through routes than "gotta catch em all and beat the league". It became something totally different and was nearly unrecognizable. It cause you to reexamine the whole game in a new light. Democracy changed all that. It turned the game into a slow motion generic playthrough of pokemon. Finishing the game went from "possible" to "inevitable".

If I recall correctly the streamer was pressured by Twitch to implement a way to speed up the game because it was bringing in $$$. Now that it's a year old and doesn't have 100k viewers that wouldn't get in the way so it'll probably be a full democracy run.

People dont' have that kind of attention span, especially twitch viewers. The narrative needed to keep driving forward.

Yeah... meaning that one of two things would happen - people would stup griefing because it isn't funny anymore or (more likely) there would be a few people left that would have an easier time completing it and then everyone would come back to see what happens next and the chaos would begin again. That's how something like this SHOULD work. It's going to be completed no matter what, you just have to keep watching and see. I guarantee if they didn't implement democracy they still would have completed the first run. It might have taken months longer, but it still would be done and at very least it wouldn't be a big fucking joke because of democracy.
