And while I'm at it, FUCK FR/LG for not allowing you to have a Crobat. The one game where you can catch a Zubat early and the end-game Rival, Team Leaders, Ninjas, and E4 all aren't also spamming Crobat.

HGSS was full of missed opportunities. The one you mentioned, plus:
-no Moss Rock in Ilex Forest
-Silver stuck with fucking Sneasel and Magneton because of muh remake and no place to evolve Magneton (for fuck's sake, they could have used the Lighthouse or some shit)
-Gym Leaders still have 95% of Kanto Pokémon

Remake begging wasn't as high for hoenn as it was for HG/SS. None of it was ironic either.
Johto has some of the worst problems not rectified in their remake as well the fact that it sold well pretty much told GF that they can cut corners and no one would care. There are also a small amount of things that can be considered good in Gen 2 as well
Truth hurts but your favourite game sucks.
