Alright, /vp/. Firstly, I don't want to hear "But they would never, it's this, it's that, or Won't Happen", because this is strictly Hypothetical. How would YOU react if they Legitimately got rid of All Mega Evolution in Gen 7? What if it was strictly a gimmick in Gen 6? All Mega Stones are non transferable through Pokemon Bank and GTS already, so it would be Incredibly Simple to just simply Leave it Out of the next game. How would you feel if this happened?

I'd be fine, I'd feel like they're just one of those 1 game gimmick things that they always get rid of when the new game comes out. I just hope they keep building into that soaring thing and eventually get rid of HMs, I'm not looking forward to using all those HMs again in gen 4 remakes.

Macargo, Muk, Weezing, Seviper, Zangoose, Garhodor, shit like that needs actual changes

pretty much all 1 stage pokemon deserve some kind of evolution or even a baby form. I hate baby pokemon, but anything to actually give them points where you can catch them and get your super powerful 1 stage sea bouvine Lapras without having to beg some retarded NPC to just give it to you. Maybe baby lapras can be caught using a Good Rod or an Old Rod at some early point and make it evolve at like level 40 so you can make use of it and then make it into your favorite dynamite water HM slave

This. I have fucking hated HMs for as long as I can remember and in case I need to use them again to travel, I never have them removed unless I want to import to Gen IV or V.

Thankfully for HeartGold I had my bro Furret to teach Surf long before I had to teach my Lanturn Waterfall. Ironically enough it really came in handy for the Elite Four and my Furret was always satisfying to fuck over all kinds of types with.

Problem with soaring in future games is that there really isn't any pokemon besides Lati@s that it works with. Unless they use a generic soaring model, if they were to do that it might work.

I'd be mad as hell. Mega Evolutions were a step in a great direction and help keep the games fresh and add more diversity, to a certain extent.
Megas are a great way of increasing the number of new Pokémon mid-gen without resorting to event-exclusive alt formes. Most megas are incredibly balanced due to the item restriction. That on itself limits terribly the amount of viable sets to everything that's not Salamence/Lucario/Gengar.

Rotom-W, Talonflame, Landorus-T, Conkeldurr. There's plenty of power creeps that can actually use hold items and people still bitch about them.
Basically, no matter what GF does, there's a small portion of the "fan"base that will keep buying and bitching endlessly.

Honestly, I wouldn't like it. Call me what you may, but I actually really like the concept and how it drastically improved shitmons, i.e. Mawile, Lopunny, etc. The only problem with it is GameFreak's selection style. Also I really like the lore behind it.

I wouldn't care. They've added nothing to the story (and arguably Gen VI stories are well below V's), nor to the gameplay for someone like me who's only interested in single-player stuff. They're also possibly related to why Gen VI has so few new pokemon, which I thought really fucking sucked.

Keep them, drop them, whatever. Just fucking focus on carrying over actual meaningful content like bases, ball decorating, join avenue, etc.

Why couldn't they have just been regular evolutions? Did people hate Rhyperior and others so damn much? I thought Gen IV was kind of crap, but I've nothing against giving old 'mons new evos.

i agree that some of them should've been evos, though. mawile comes to mind and it should have kept its prevo's abilities instead of huge power; would be a solid and decently strong tank without being op. banette could have used one as well, same with glalie and others i don't feel like listing.

Diancie was introduced this gen. Were it not for megas it would've either had a proper evolution/forme change, or already would've had its mega stats as its base ones from the start.

It's always funny to see people argue that some pokemon should be weaker than others because "They're just early route trash! It evolves quickly, that's why it's so weak!".
But then it gets a Mega that nullifies this argument. Would you look at that, it could have achieved the same thing if it's BST got a boost (not as much as a Mega gives) and its stats rearranged + modified HA in the case of Beedrill, because they've shown us they can give BST boosts at the start of new gens.
Mawile and Sableye and those with an incomplete evo tree and not much of a big BST could have gotten actual evos.
Then you have shit like Blaziken, Garchimp and Salamence. Did they need an evo? Of course not.
Some mon would have just needed a stat redistribution and a good HA without a BST boost, because they showed they can change HAs of certain mon in between gens, like Chandelure.
And then there are the Megas that are complete and utter jokes like Camerupt and Pidgeot.
And Mega Legendaries, ho dear god what a great idea. I mean complete shitmons like Rayquayquay and Mewtwo really needed them.
And don't start with the muh Smogon rule, as power creep has been an increasing problem ever since Gen 4 where they literally released new and better forms of existing pokemon, like Infernape (Blaziken didn't have a HA back then, it got completely outclassed) and Garchomp.
Megas are just a stupid gimmick and I myself wouldn't be bothered by their removal.

I'm not calling you out or anything but "they could use new thing because new thing" doesn't hold up. Why not have unique held items like Pikachu, Lati's, etc. have? Or simple forme changes? Or something brand new that I'm too creatively bankrupt to even think of? fwiw I'm also a retarded single-player enthusiast only thinking about how I play the game. So to me, any old 'mon is plenty useful in the regular and post-game, even in the battle tower or whatever they're calling it these days.

Mega Evolutions were a great idea and a good way to breathe some life into some shitmons, but GF cocked it up as they are prone to doing. By giving already great 'mons Megas, what's the point of running anything else?

I think it's a great mechanic and would be sad to see it go since it allowed some dead end shitmons (ie beedrill, absol, charizard, etc) a new lease on life and would like to see them continue doing so.

What I don't want to see is it turn into the new go to way to fixing dead pokemon though....the evolutions they handed out in gen 4 were a good thing for most things that got them and I'd like to see that continue in cases where it'd be more appropriate than a mega (ie, farfetched)
