I wouldnt be opposed to Flybro getting a QD either provided it gets to keep it's preevo hidden ability. Seriously, why arent Levitating Pokemon allowed to have Hidden Abilities? apart from Bronzong who only got one because he also had Heatproof as it's non-hidden ability

They needed the boost enormously compared to most other Pokemon. Swellow, Staraptor, Braviary, and Talonflame are all great. The choice was basically between that, Noctowl, Unfezant, and maybe Fearow/Farfetch'd/Dodrio
Pidgeot probably won the mega bowl because of popularity

Yeah, pretty much Genwun pandering. Mega Swellow and Masquerain would've been much better choices than Pidgeot and Beedrill as well as being relevant to the game their megas were introduced in.

>Bug/Ground losing levitate, and a lot of speed, but gaining attack and defense like it's base form

A mixed attacker would be cool, but it would be shit since a mega wouldn't be able to give flygon enough of a boost to be good at both.
