If it makes you feel any better, Steel Wing is not on any recommended sets. That means it's not Smogon-approved, and therefore unviable. Your opponent will never make it any further up the ladder with that shit set.

Steel is shit for anything other than hitting Diancie. Steel Wing at least has a nifty 10% chance of boosting your defense while Iron Head does not.

If you don't want to check Diancie, just use Brave Bird instead.

With -attack nature Skarmory it's 93.8% chance of OHKO for Iron Head and 18.8% chance of OHKO for Steel Wing.

The chance of raising defense is not worth it.

The chance of missing is the same as the chance of raising defense. You really wanna risk losing your Skarmory OR giving Diancie a free switch for the paltry chance of raising defense, which only works until you switch out again? Sure. Be stupid. And when you do hit, you only have a max 80% chance of OHKOing Mega Diancie. Uninvested Iron Head buttfucks Mega Diancie. Steel Wing is not a guarantee.

The debate between Iron Head/Brave Bird really depends on how much you want to fuck Diancie over. You're not killing much else that shitty base attack.

There's nothing wrong with deviating from the Smogon-approved sets, especially if it is to deal with a pokemon that otherwise gives your team trouble.

Unpredictability itself is often a great tool, especially outside of a VGC best of 3 tournament setting.

The Reason Beheeyem learns Steel Wing is because the TM containing Steel Wing contained Ally Switch in Gen V, most Gen V TMs didn't get changed, and Beheeyem was only available via Pokébank in X/Y. Thus, oversights.

also im getting a lot of shit that wont go through on battle spot, and they have legal moves, hatched at level 1/met level 1 at battle resort, legal balls. anywhere to check the legitimacy of an injected pokemon before sending it ingame?

sorry for asking in here, just made 40 or so last night and some just dont want to work even after looking up everything related.
