The only thing I wish the anime did right was have the cities at least resemble the game ones; Have Blackthorn City be a city but don't just make it look like New York. Its a mountain settlement with rustic huts and a glacier on its borders.

There is a lot of wrong with the anime but making their environment big and adding elements that weren't in the games is great. Making cities small as shit in origins makes senses since its a straight game adaptation, but the anime shouldn't restrict themselves to a small environment.

The anime is based in games and adds to it. Making cities bigger and making them feel more natural so kids can submerge into the fantasy that the Pokemon world is alike theirs is a great addition.

No they shouldn't. The games are constrained by technical and gameplay considerations. The anime is not, and shouldn't be. I agree that cities should maintain the same atmosphere as their game counterparts, but beyond that I think the anime writers can and should take whatever liberties they want in terms of layout, size, and anything else.

It makes sense that the cities were portrayed as small in the original games due to limitations. It's a bit of a shame they didn't at least get a revamp with some more houses in the the FRLG remakes. However, no matter how you look at it, this is much more understandable than the bullshit town sizes in Skyrim.

As someone who has spent many years living in both highly rural and highly urban environments, I can tell you that things like heat, electricity, and water are not always a given in small towns like that. Internet (which I'm sure you're very fond of) is EXTREMELY unreliable. And I don't mean "ugh literally too slow for youtube" unreliable, I mean "we haven't had internet or phone service for five weeks and the company refuses to tell us when it might come back" unreliable.

Pallet is certainly comfy. But I'd take the reliability and guaranteed infrastructure of a city like Saffron or Celadon over it any day.

I don't think GF panders to Typhlosion nearly as much as you seem to think they do (dare I say AT ALL, actually?).

I actually think Feraligatr is probably the one they would pander to, if they cared about starters other than Gen 1's. It's the "cool" one. Aside fromt he fire mane, Typhlosion's got nothing going for it. It's got a sort of boring, amorphous body, and no discernible features, whereas Feraligatr has the ridged back, tail, huge jaws, it's the most humanoid, etc.

Well, they don't, really. Most people who live such places are either poor and can't move, or they are huge outdoorsmen.

I also think it's sort of an inherited taste. People are born here, grow up here, are raised by their hick parents who were also born here, don't see a city until their highschool Senior tip to NYC or something, are terrified by it, and decide to never leave.

I'd only want Kanto remakes if it was Yellow version, with all of FRLG's added features, a GB sound player, and a metric ton of other additions gamefreak is not capable of putting the effort into making.

Switching the male and female companions isn't enough to make things feel fresh. They should have given Ash closure, and had a climactic end game against team rocket, and swapped out protagonists with the Jhoto anime.

Of course I'll always think pokemon saying their names will be retarded compared to realistic cries ( especially when we switched to the sinnoh anime ) but that's never going away.

Yellow had very little to do with the anime to be honest.

It was still pokemon red and blue, you just had the series mascot following you around, and added two Team Rocket Executives into the game that weren't there before.

You weren't Ash, Misty and Brock didn't follow you, the dialogue wasn't full of terrible humor and after school special life lessons.

It was literally just pokemon red and blue with a few extra features.

Do people sometimes forget that the anime was supposed to be based off the games at one point? The reason all that extra shit happens in the anime is because there was no way to fill a full season of anime with just events that happen in the games and still be entertaining.
