>>22844195I have a question about Malamar and I think it's the main problem with most of these weird alternate methods of evolution; How are you supposed to know this? How would you ever figure this out without the internet? Is there any circumstance where you would just happen to be playing with your shit upside down with an Inkay? Are there hints somewhere in game? I don't think I ever saw any if there are.
INB4 LOL EVERYONE HAVE INTERNET. That's really not the point. The details of the mechanics of a game and any information that you would ever need to progress in any way should be contained within the game itself. Evolving by happiness isn't really even special because it's something that's going to happen regardless of whether you know about it or not. Even when you're talking about trading evolutions, it's feasible that at some point one would happen to trade that pokemon and figure it out. But say there was a ghost pokemon that evolved by surviving a hit from a fighting move - meaning you'd have to somehow go out of your way to make fighting moves hit your ghost type - how would the game convey that to you?
