My definition is something that tries too hard to be cool or mature and doesn't feel natural. In Shadow the Hedgehog's case, he's unfortunately a legitimately edgy part of Sonic.

But seriously I went with Charizard because I was a dragon fanatic as a kid, and lizards were my favorite things next to frogs. Charmander was the cutest little shit ever in the anime. So I knew right away that Charmander was my pick.

I say this knowing full well I picked bulbasaur by mistake, because pokemon was my first rpg and i didn't know what i was doing, didn't get my charmander until my red was stolen and replaced with yellow

I can never completely choose between Blastoise and Charizard, though I do lean more toward the latter. I love turtles and dragons.

Using Blastoise in Kanto means I can have an Arcanine on my Team, while using Charizard means I can have a Gyarados. Always a tough choice.

I rolled Charizard on my first playthrough like every other 6 year old who got gameboy and red for Christmas that year. As I have aged I've become a massive fagggot for grass types though and is now my favourite of the three.

Of their base forms though squirtle is by far the coolest and ivysaur for mid.

Charizard is literally too pushed since the begining.
Venusaur was always too ugly for me.
Blastoise is a giant turtle that has a tank-shell.
Easy choice.

As always I see that Blastoise doesn't get as much love as the other two (which are also great).
When I was a kid I always loved Blastoise first sight because "holy shit he has fucking cannons sticking out of its body!". Also, I always liked turtles.
The years have passed now, but those water cannons, bulky body and confidence look in its face keeps giving me vibes of "toughest badass ever". The cannons kinda remind me of the cannoneer class on FFTA2 too.
I guess he could be better competitive-wise tho.

Um, I also like Dragonite and Salamence. I like dragons thematically, and to have one that I can have from start to finish, that is fun to use, is a solid Fire type, and that I think looks cool just makes Charizard an appealing Pokemon to me. This is from someone who was 11 when Pokemon came out and has had a Charizard in almost every Gen since.

It really doesn't matter to me that it's popular. And I don't imagine it to be some 7-foot-tall badass shitkicker. People who shout "genwunner!" at everything are retarded.

in gen 1 there's no reason for a fire type.
Just gen a Spearow and flying attacks will suffice for everything except for jynx
