Dark Rising has a bad guy sell his soul to the devil. So to screw with that, you blaze your way down to hell, punch this devil in the dick, and then grab his soul back so you can throw him back to the lifeside and then beat him down again just because death will never be an escape. And when he asks why, you declare that you're the only one to follow him to the ends of the earth. That or just laugh as the concept of gods is revealed to be bullshit and then smack him out one.
A lot of these mods have grimderp gritty urban settings. Okay, so we keep it like that, but have the citizens and baddies be more ridiculous, more insane, more colourful? The reason Def Jam Vendetta and FFNY worked was because the characters were colorful, loud, and riots to deal with. They actually stood out more in the grime.
If we need tumblr pandering, then we need a shitton of opportunities to trigger people. Preferably in rapid succession.
