>>22875273Coin flips are predetermined. The RNG only gets rerolled if you do something that shuffles a deck.
So for example say you want to roll heads for your Raichus Quick Attack, but you roll tails. No matter how often you reset, youll always get tails. Next, say you reset and play Recycle before attacking. You're going to get tails for Recycle, but now the next coin flip in the queue will be used for Quick Attack, and it MIGHT be heads. But again, if its tails, then it's gonna be tails no matter what.
However, if you play Energy Search before attacking, then you can reroll the entire coin flips RNG, rather than just "eating" coin flips with other cards. It doesnt matter if you dont even have any energy left in your deck to get; since youre going to shuffle your deck anyways, youre shuffling the entire RNG as well.
Ive been emulating these two games for years now as my go-to timekillers, just another incentive to run things like Energy Search and Pokemon Trader.
I don't know how coin flip RNG interacts with stuff like GR's Mewtwo's or Dark Clefable's Pokemon Powers though.
