Hyper Voice is only a few points higher than Blizzard. You have to consider the benefits of Hail as well though, especially in doubles.

Residual damage, counters other weather, Blizzard has a chance to freeze, can potentially aid teammates as well.

What about Nature power? Turns into tri-attack during online battles and a 20% chance to status is nice. Sort of like why Snorlax tends to run Body slam over return in most sets.

The typing is awful in terms of defense but offensively it can be amazing.

But Gamefreak love being retarded so let's give it's highest stat HP, let's make it primarily a special attacker where it's Sp.Atk stat doesn't even break 100. Let's NOT give it Power Gem, let's make it slow as shit.

Honestly wouldn't be surprised if we saw an Ice/Electric Mega Aurorus. As of now it learns many Electric moves, and auroras would not exist without the electrons and protons from beyond the atmosphere.

Unless you manage to toss up a Trick Room, Auorus will be too slow to be of much value, especially since it cannot take a punch. The Rock and Ice typing do not complement each other, only just make existing problems worse, especially when it's speed and physical defenses suck.

Yeah I know RU isn't OU, but it proves that it's certainly usable, otherwise it would be ridiculed in FU. There are far worse pokemon than Aurorus that happen to have a good defensive type.

Not saying it's useless, but it has a LOT going against it. To a fast and hyper offensive mon, ice/rock would be pretty damn good. But the issue is GF's iceberg boner for ice types (slow and defensive). While Aurorus is good in RU, I will concede, unless the underlying issues of its extremely slow speed and weak physical defense, it just won't be as good as it could have been.

Ice/Electric Mega Aurorus would be interesting. Defensively it's actually decent (despite its weaknesses resisting BoltBeam + flyspam is great and gives it opportunities to switch in) and offensively we all know how good it is.
The rock typing is what screws Aurorus over, not Ice. It can't take advantage of it because it doesn't learn Power Gem, so it only adds unwanted weaknesses.
