Edgy wouldn't have been so bad if they weren't just so fucking boring. A competent Team Rocket with actual organizational support was a unique, fun idea with great potential, but was just botched horribly. Kind of like the B/W series as a whole, I suppose.

The same reason Ash is still the main protagonist. I wish they'd swapped out Ash and the "Jessie and James" group from Team Rocket upon reaching Johto. It probably would've been fine to just have them make a cameo once a season.

I honestly doubt ANYBODY who watched the pokemon anime would have suddenly dropped the series if Ash and Team Rocket stayed in the Kanto series.

The human characters couldn't possibly be what a majority of people watch that anime for.

That'd be like saying people watched Sonic X for Chris, or the Kirby anime for the snail guy.
