What are some of the little things you miss from the older gens?

Pic related, commemorative photos of your team. It was fun to look back on the journey at the end by looking through the Photo Album.

Above is my team in HGSS. First, the earliest photo of my team of six. And a group shot at Mt.Silver just before we climbed it and kicked Red's ass.

Following Pokemon was the worst gimmick out of any game. It added ZERO things to the game except if your an autist who thinks data has feelings. This is SAO level of shit

The limited text and pet-like actions of every pokemon made things feel a lot more robotic rather than natural.

How about being in the world of POKÉMON being followed around by a POKÉMON enhances the POKÉMON experience?
Also it was awesome to change your lead pokemon around just to see how the tiny sprite looked. Add this to trainer customization and you got a whole new level of personal into the game.

You're pretty alright. And the photo album was my favourite feature. Whenever I saw him, I'd run back to the PC, deposit my HM slave, and go take the pic just to have my ingame team in each picture.

Biggest things for me are how you could hear the cries of catchable pokemon in the overworld maps of Gen 3.

Also in-battle dialogue with gym leaders and other important trainers, which idk why they did it for Gen 4 and 5 but completely removed it from 6 other than GF just being lazy as always.

They just did it with Sylveon though!

They'll do it again next generation, I think. They were getting flack for not creating new pokemon. New evolutions for old ones appeals more to older players than today's youth that has no attachment to them. The willingness to give the old forms megas and such leads me to believe we'll see more love for old favorites soon.

On a related note, I really liked the post-E4 slideshow of your gym battles and which Pokémon you used for said gym battles in ORAS. Doesn't redeem the games but I hope they keep that.
