There's a reason the same players continuously make top in competitions every year, there's strategy involved other than just "muh broken mons". Obviously there'll be good pokemon that there's little reason not to use, but the format is definitely more varied than you're implying. Milotic, Ludicolo, Aromatisse, Mega Camerupt, Mega Obama, Breloom, Suicune, Zapdos, Raikou, Entei, Liepard, Whimsicott, Gastrodon, Lapras, Conkeldurr, MegaGross, Jellicent, Mega Slowbro, Primeape, Arcanine, Gyarados, Crobat, 2/3 ancient lions, Blaziken, Infernape, Raichu and a shit ton of others all see use in a good number of teams.
