He IS the first Bug type champion. Just like Lance and Iris are Dragon type with only three dragons and Steven is Steel with only three Stell types

Lance is more of a flying type champion, honestly. Iris is the dragon type champion that actually qualifies.

Yeah but Lance's, Steven's and Iris' teams aesthetically fit with their type. Bouffalant, Druddigon and Vanilluxe are not bug-like at all.

Worst theme sure, but he feels way more 'champion' material than most of the other champs in the games, having an actual older champion whos more of a seasoned traveler feels way more worthy than some actress or a bishie who loves rocks.
