Because of breeding mechanics in Gens II to V, all-male Pokemon could not learn Egg Moves because the only way they could breed and produce an offspring the same as the male was with Ditto. The problem with THAT is that females could not pass down Egg Moves to the baby, as only the male could.

Now that they fixed the breeding mechanics in Gen VI, Tauros should be able to know at least a few Egg Moves, but Game Freak wants to keep it with none, my best guess being legacy reasons.

My question is: why couldn't the female breed down Egg Moves in the first place?

How come toraus/miltank and nidoking/nidoqueen are the same pokemon, but are still counted as different species and have separate pokedex numbers while meowstic is counted as one pokemon and the gender differences are just considered formes?

Tauros and Miltank aren't the same Pokemon, they're not related at all since a Miltank egg can't hatch a Tauros.

wait, what am I missing? isn't the offspring's species still always the mother's species? so you'll never hatch a tauros, if you aren't breeding with a ditto. yeah I know a prevolution would fix this, but that wasn't mentioned in the previous posts.
