Who was the Indigo Champion before Blue? Lance seems to imply there was no champion before that.

Blue established the Champion position, meaning that before him, there are absolutely no one strong enough to challenge AND beat the elite four

This is a weird sentence to say, cause he should've just said that you have to face the champion. Why would he surprise / gave you a false info that you're the champion?

Lance was the leader of the e4 and the champion.

This was probably a temporary measure after Oak's retirement from the e4.

There was no champion. It was just the elite 4. And random trainers beat it and were put in the hall of fame. Blue wasn't a champion in the sense of later games where it is a legit title and position. He simply beat the Elite 4 before you and was offered as a final opponent for storyline reasons. Every gen after copypasted the "Elite 4 + 1 more" and flanderized it into having a full time champion for each region. This creates the huge hole of no matter how many times you beat the champion you don't become the champion.

I would love to see a game actually have the champion step down and give you the seat
it'd be a postgame challenge where to keep whatever perks you get from being the champion you need to defend your title from a challenging trainer on a daily/weekly basis

I don't understand why Iris is so disliked. I understand her characterization in the anime is shit, but the anime for B/W was fucking terrible.

In game, she's a cute brown loli dragon trainer who is super strong and eager and powerful. She doesn't pull the 'You're such a kid!' In the games, she's much more (miles) mature

I always thought Blue taking the Champion position bumped Lance down from the Champion to the top E4 member and that had a domino effect throughout the E4 where everyone went down a position which ended with the weakest member getting kicked out entirely.

I had EXP Share off, leading me to be 10 levels below her on average. I underestimated her and didn't even use the best tactics I could.

She still got backed into a corner and had to rely on M-Gardevoir to take down a player who was severely underleveled, not using a mega evo, not using the best tactics, and had half of his team composed of Pokemon considered D rank in-game.

Is it true that Alder had a Volcarona that died and his depression made him neglect training pokemon and instead traveling the country on some kind of spiritual journey? and that after you beat N he somehow trains a team in the time it takes to rechallenge the pokemon league?

His starter did die and he's definitely not in his battling prime anymore. Don't remember anything about him training hard again after his loss to N, though.
