He was so awesome in his early days as a champion Mega. Now that Gallade exists, he is so ousted that it makes me sad. Sure, Gallade has less power, but he has more speed and versatility over Apu.

Oh, if only this pooh bear had more speed, then it would wreck shit with its kinda awesome physical movepool.

But alas, GF made the bear literally gimpy (as in you have to cripple it in order to do anything worthwhile, such as gaining speed and attack power.)

It doesn't help matters that its bulk is compromised already, as any decent hit will leave a huge dent in it.

Oh, and lime green shiny. I wish it were a black bear or one of those rare Canadian spirit bears, but nope, we got green.

Golem.
I'm not keen on exploding my mons to do some un-STAB'd damage, so that's out.
There are loads more viable SR setters so I don't bother it with that setup.
Really, anything it could do something does better, even other Rock-mons. I love doing mono-Rock playthroughs but I've never found a place for it.

As a concept I love it, but the game just has too many different forms of secondary damage that it can't pull it off without specific support.

I'm usually fine with something even if it's not ideal, as long as the gimmick works and is fun. Scarf Imposter Ditto is fun as fuck.

But Shedinja is just impossible to use without building everything around it.

It's not that bad. Pretty unexpected mega which can give you a free Dragon Dance sometime and it sets up all over the Latis, especially at -2. Its crippling flaw is it can't outspeed Mega Lopunny at +1.

What is the best role for Golem? It's ass Speed and SpDef make it crap as a wall of any sort.
The most common sets I've seen are;
>offensive
Sucker Punch, Rock Polish, Rock Blast, Curse, Gyro Ball
>suicide lead
Stealth Rock, Sandstorm, Explosion, Sturdy, that berry that makes your next move go first if you're at -25% health

I once went with Sand Veil, Sandstorm, Double Team, Bulldoze and Rock Blast. Not hugely reliable but pretty fun, and no one suspects it online.

Mega Manectric, Mega Ampharos and Mega Garchomp, i mean what are these niggas supposed to do anyway? Doesnt help that the first one is ugly as sin and has literally ONLY ONE viable set: thunderbolt, ogreheat, HP ice and volt switch.

As someone whos used M-Ampharos quite a bit, you just need to know the synergy of your team. It can either be a slow, bulky attacker and do useful slow volt switching to give frailer mons a safer switch in or you can go invest in speed, use Agility and outspeed a surprising amount of mons if your team lacks faster firepower. Trick rooms also viable but i'd recommend it more if you play dubs.

Golduck is my favorite Pokemon and I love using it on my in-game team, but it's useless in the postgame. It isn't even the best swift swimmer.

And the majority of megas don't. Most of them are (and should be) a definitive upgrade of the Pokemon that are so good you can only use one per team. Not a silly sidegrade that has such a niche role that it's not even worth using over its regular form with some other more OP mega.

You know the worst part? It actually isn't terrible in battle, despite the "no moves" criticisms. It has a niche, and it's pretty good at it, downright solid even. A perfectly competent battler with enough options to get by...

BUT being decent doesn't cut the mustard when you're a Mega. Pidgeot may not be a bad Pokemon, and it is so, so much better than it ever used to be after generations of being outclassed. It's really unfortunate that choosing it means you pass on using so many stronger options for your team Mega.
