VGC or 6v6 Singles? Smogon or Nintendo? Why? Personally, I feel like 6v6 singles with Smogon is better because it's actively monitored and balanced by a community with majority votes and agreements. Also just the simple fact that I prefer singles as a format because I like the idea of being able to switch reliably.

6v6 Singles because I play for fun. Since I'm on cart I don't play by smogon rules though. People on cart that play doubles take it just as seriously as singles on Showdown.

Battle sims like PO and showdown around gen 4 made me jump from casual in game playing to competitive. Starting to get into VGC now; enjoy them both. I have no clue why game freak doesn't promote doubles In game more if it's the official format.
tl;dr
Both are fun in different ways. Singles is what I've always played in pokemon, wish doubles (or the official vgc) would line up with what you see in the series

I think 6v6 is more competitive because the players are better on the tourney scene.

You can say what you want about japs but they simply aren't better.

Personally, I enjoy more GF's metagame than Smogon's. 3v3 is very fun to play and so versatile with the big amount of variety I've seen so far. You keep seeing your overused stuff like Kanga and Mence but in my opinion they're easier to deal with since you can start countering since party selection, games don't drag forever and stall is not as common as in OU, so I actually feel that my hyper offensive teams have better chances to win.

VGC is also very fun but I haven't been able to build good teams. I even esnt to get into Triples and Rotation since those are barely touched.

In my opinion, Smogon meta will never be as good as it was in Gen 4, right now is way too overcentralizing and the way they've been handling bans has been too poor.

Nintendo never put much effort into their meta since it's aimed at dumb children. Go for smogon metas if you want any competitiveness.

There's a problem with a game when the people who make decisions on changes are the people who the game already currently benefits.

Like, if the current top 15 football teams were the ones who collectively voted on football rules changes then football would be a laughing stock.

I like playing VGC because there's a set set of rules and you don't get as many insane bans, instead learning how to play around the current strongest mons. Which is made much easier anyway by the nature of the Doubles format.
