Hell, it's only ever been actually malicious in PMD, from what I remember in Ranger, the Movie, and the Game, those all three portrayed Darkrai as a benevolent being.

A lot of poisoning/hypnosis/life force sucking in Pokemon seems more involuntary for the sake of survival/hunting rather than the "just for shits and giggles" kind of thing you guys seem to make it out to be, especially in ghost types.
