>>22933252To have to resort to giving reasons as to why Lucario isn't inherently toxic and apologist arguments blaming the fanbase rather than about any virtues it could have speaks more about it than I possibly could.
Still, it's true that this is the best argument defending Luke that I've ever seen... Which on second thought also speaks miles about it.
While I agree on Lucario being a suitable as a marketing tool towards older kids I think you'll agree that it when it gets to the point of 'putting 50 meters statues of it in the games and dedicating a third of the game's plot to it' things have gotten a bit out of hand. And this extends to the anime as well, for those that watch it.
Its fine for Lucario to have some spotlight, in a forest with 721 trees some are bound to be taller than others... But when a tree grows too tall the shadow it casts keeps its own younglings from growing. This was one of the reasons behind Zoroark's failure, that Lucario existed.
But its not only about Zoroark, all Pokemon are bound to languish under Lucario's shadow, no matter how good or well liked they are. If giants such as left place for others to have some of that spotlight all would be fine, but as things are they need to change.
It may sound petty, but all that attention that luke gets should partly go elsewhere. It'd be even good for it, since then its presence would be far more bearable.
Also Ididn't critisize the fanbase a single time, so your argument about it being shit being independent from Lucario being shit is pointless.
