Would Pokemon be balanced if each team had a BST limit?

Meaning, anything can be used as long as your team's total BST is under 2500. You can have Mega Rayquaza as long as you're willing to pack a Sunkern. Megas' +100 to their BST counts towards the limit.

With a 2500 limit you could have Mega Raymonds. But I know that ain't the point.

More on the subject, BST matters little when talking about how effective is a mon, Azumarill is a prime example of this.

I'm sure there is (or has been) a PO or showdown metagame for this.

I expect there would be a lot of "bang for your buck" pound for pound type pokemon

Smeargle on every team, breloom, bisharp etc

Also heavy use of eviolite, assault vest, choice items, sandstorm are likely too

For the last fucking time you dumbshit, BST is not as important as how optimized a Pokemon's stat distribution is, and that factor cannot be quantified because of how many variables (typing, ability, movepool) play into it. If you still can't get this simple fact in your thick skull, you should smash it on the nearest pavement. Or at least stay away from games that require elementary logical thinking.

Each pokemon should have a universal amount of PP depending on the attacks you give it. Got nothing but powerful moves on your pokemon? Then you will only be able to attack a few times with it. Got a great balance of powerful and underpowered moves? Then you can use that one or two powerful moves more often.

It would make the underpowered moves like Tackle and Leer more useful beyond just the early levels.

So like exactly already what they do just looking at why most of the 30+ PP moves are status and low power attacks while high power attacks and good status effects are like 5-10 PP

No anon. What I am advocating is more a less the same system. It's just that all of your attacks would draw from the same PP pool. Think of it like this.

>hydro pump
>scratch
>hyper beam
>giga impact

Rather than these moves having their own PP. The total PP is combined. Because you put a weaker move on your pokemon, you are now allowed to use the more powerful moves a lot more than if you only had powerful moves on your pokemon. With the current system you can use say a powerful 5/5 move 5 times. If you had 4 of those moves that's 20 different times you can use the move. I'm advocating that if you have 4 powerful moves let's say. Then you can only use all of those moves 5 times at most.

Hope I explained that well. I'm trying to remember an RPG I played that did exactly this.

Also forgot to add this. Since it would be OP to say be able to use hyper beam over 30 times, they could make the more powerful moves have more of a cost to use than just 1 PP. While weaker moves are a lot more cost effective to use.

I know for a fact other people must have thought this.
