The Houndoom would leap back as the beam of energy smashed into it, the trainer grunting in pain as the dig soon brought him down, leaving just the dog to deliver a firing bite down on the Sandslash.

It would be around that point that the Commander would reappear again, smirking triumphly even as the Marowak drew back as the bullets smashed against it's rough hide. The object in his other hand would reveal the source of his smile as he tossed the radio headset over his shoulder and recalled the pokemon, soon sending out a Nidoking in response which would suddenly rush the newly revived Metagross horn first. From the distance another roar of missiles would begin drawing near, the Vampire himself spotting them from his vantage point in the sky.

The rock throw would miss but the last swift attacks would finally work to bring the two electric types down, their trainers recalling them after giving a silent bit of thanks for holding out so long. The two replacement pokemon suddenly sending out what looked to be their last pokemon, the first small one suddenly charging Bikke while the second seemed to focus itself further back in the rear.

The two other attackers kept going, dodging the others strikes even as more rumbling began sounding, the two quickly trying to bring them down fast as well.

Last time on Poke Ball Z...

Mike's team had recovered some of their earlier form, momentum having shifted from a sure thing in the enemy's direction to nearly neutral. There were only two active team members, but that was likely enough to hang on... for now.

Samus, Mike's Blaziken, had been kept in the fight with swift medical attention. She'd needed a minute to get back into the mindset for battle after spending the last few days out, but she was ready now. The enemy Regigigas hadn't spotted her yet, or was ignoring her; too bad it had instead decided to throw up a Substitute. A Sky Uppercut would just have to punch through that, and possibly as many times as necessary.

Sophia, one of Mike's Gardevoir, was currently in charge of team management, having had to take over for her trainer after he was knocked out by earlier counterattacks. She was out of offensive power, but she could still pull off plenty of strategy and leadership. Having a Teleport fully charged, she quickly warped back to her trainer's side; she'd have to cover him for a while until he could get back on his feet.

Surrounded by the bodies of the fallen, Scherox picked itself up, shaking the dust of unconsciousness from its emerald scales. The battle had changed since last its fiery golden eyes had seen the carnage. Over the way, Metagross was picking itself up, and the massive Stolloss had fallen in battle to the white titan. Presently, master was making his way up the incline with a strange midget, protected from their foes by the bulk of Stahlos.

"Scherox, Metagross, get up here and put some heat on the titan!" called master's voice. Scherox craned its neck upwards, sighting in the massive construct before racing off to aid master.

The ground beneath Metagross' front limbs became slick with condensation, soon to freeze in the mountain chill. Lurching forward, the iron war machine aimed to strike the opposing monster with its frozen fists.

The Blaziken sailed just over the Regigigas' flailing arm, only inches of clearance separating them. Samus had hoped to knock out the barrier in one shot; she'd just have to hit it with Sky Uppercuts until it went down, apparently. [Doing that, of course.]

Sophia stood guard over Mike, the Gardevoir keeping her trainer out of harm's way until medical treatment could be finished. Not much she could do but warm up for another Teleport, or get medicine ready.

The icy punch would slam into the heavy poison type, the icy landscape around it causing it's movements to slip up a little even as it attempted to bulk through the attack, it's horn ramming against the beast again as it held on to trying to survive.

The Marowak would continue to count it's luck even as it would once again leave it's weapon to take the shots, the heavy bone splintering as the bullets raked across it, from this distance through it was still within range to let it fly towards the Sandslash in an overhand throw.

At this point the incoming rockets began arriving, the lucky shots from the flying Vampire luckly throwing enough off course to not completely destroy everything out there, but the damage would still cause some mass chaos and destruction, whatever that was left between the temple, and the valley entrance reduced to rubble... Some of it getting dangerously close to the sleeping beast at the entrance of it.

The Piloswine would take the two attacks hard, it's usually durable defenses buckling under the force of the strikes, the Magmar would fare much worse, the Water type attack forcing it down low even as it's partner attempted one last desperation attack.

The frozen punch connected, sending the purple kaiju reeling from the hit. Scrambling to recover, the enemy charged again. The hit connected, landing in the same place as the previous. Electricity sparked from the wound, and the hydraulic sounds of moving legs sounded sluggish when the front left limb moved. Metagross limped as it dashed forward, fists still frozen to deliver another strike.

The past several minutes, agonizing eternities to the combatants, had been spent maneuvering into position. Now, Stahlos was in position to deliver a striking blow to the titan's imposing defensive proxy. Making sure to keep Hans safe from retaliation, the iron serpent dug its tail into the ground, hefting a massive stone from the ground and tossing it at the substitute.

From the sky, a shape descended very rapidly towards the officer. No, getting closer it was two shapes. One of them humanoid and basically naked, cloak billowing out behind him. "Super Bat Double-Drop-Kick!"

The Scrafty's fist impacted the frog and sent it on its ass, rolling backwards. Picking up a gob of muddy ground, it flung it at the foe's face while Bikke pursued the Mienfoo to grab it and use it as a weapon on the soldiers.

Belonging to the very same mad pirate, the warriors' Dewgong pressed through the attack thanks to its Water typing protecting it from the weakness of its Ice type. Then the quake it however, leaving the Dewgong down and both Drizz'l and his Octillery badly damaged. The two aimed to end this quickly.

BM took a few shots from the armed officer, with Stahlos now preoccupied with combat and his cover reduced. Thankfully it seemed a certain teenaged vampire had that front covered, so BM's attention shifted to the colossus with another grenade. His Sandslash was handily taken down, but the Porygon remained in it.

The first punch would cut through the barrier for good, exposing the titan to the elements even as the next two attackers closed in and rained down their own severe blows as well, the attack soon joined in by the near missing fire bomb.

The sudden flying attack by the flier would cause the officer to hurl a grenade directly into the other's face as he nursed the wounds.

Whatever plans he held towards attacking though were silenced as the massive blizzard hit the entire field, the attack sealing the deal sending the massive titan toppling forwards to slam into the ground, the beast vanishing a second later in a flash of light, even as the rest of the forces were brought down low in the attack.

At the end result the frozen wasteland around them was left clear of almost everything, some of the pokemon themelves having been recalled by their surviving trainers leaving only.... the other statue, which in the blast had been exposed as another Golurk hiding behind it's own shield.. Which in absence of anyone else, gave one last futile earthquake attack.

The remaining soldiers, seeing the final officer go down as well as the massive blast of destruction, took that as their big excuse to bug, the ones with pokemon shifting to a fighting retreat as they shifted to the side tunnel, either moving towards a fighting retreat or to hold out for reinforcements.

The quake rippling out sent Garland falling backwards, [spoilers]knocking him down[/spoilers] and forcing him to risk charging an AoE heal to restore the damage done to his allies.

Bikke's Politoed was taken down by the attack, but he and Drizz'l and the Octillery withstood it, ducking under the blizzard even as its incredible accuracy and precision swerved around them.

Vilbert leaned back as the grenade sailed past him, ducking behind some rubble from the destroyed statue as it exploded. Unaffected by the Earthquake, his bat made to attack the officer again.

Stahlos, unfazed by the shaking of the earth, held still, defending master and the little blue one against the oncoming wave of primal clay, as Scherox deftly leaping over the cracking earth as huge jagged plates erupted from the explosive force of the golem's earth-shattering strike.

Like a ballerina, the emerald mantis landed softly against the iron hide of its teammate, casting a sidelong glace at Hans and BM. That last attack had drained the majority of its reserves, and it would take the moment to rest this turn, guarding over the Colonel and the mage in lieu of launching another strike.

Breathing heavily, Hans took the risk of peering over the top of his iron protector. The scene was a mess. Earth and human bodies strewn about haphazardly, thrown by numerous devastating blows made by both parties. Stolloss was fallen, and down below, Metagross was close to falling as well. Stahlos was steadfast, providing an excellent defensive barrier, and Scherox stood guard against attacks by smaller, human foes.

With the Regigigas down, Samus gave Blue as close to a thumbs-up as she could manage. Blaziken didn't exactly have proper hands, so a three-talon wave would be the best she could do.

That last Earthquake knocked her off her feet, sprawling into the dirt below. *Oh, you just couldn't leave well enough alone, could you?* Flipping to her feet, the Blaziken sprang forth, lunging at the Golurk that was dumb enough to still fight. Half her normal moves would be useless against this behemoth, but she had a special trick she'd picked up a while back. One talon glowed with a dark purple energy, the Blaziken thrusting at the Golurk's torso with a Shadow Claw. If she could get one good shot in, she'd win the fight right away... [0 also crits.]

The massive rumbling could be felt from even where they were, the trek had been long and hard but most of the checkpoints seemed to have been abandoned due to the fight, but as the old man signaled for them to stop before listening down the tunnel.
"They're falling back... that means they will be in our way any minute now."

He'd turn to the pokemon. "You will have to try and manage it from here."

With no backup, that might be a little hard to manage. Paula, Mike's other Gardevoir, would just have to make do. -I can only hope that they are unwilling to engage in further combat.- If they were willing, she'd probably lose the fight; better to avoid it if she could. The tunnel might provide hiding spots she could duck into if necessary... Only one way to be sure, and that was by moving on.

The punch that had knocked Garland all the way down was equally effective against Samus. Flying back several dozen yards, the Blaziken tumbled to a stop face-down in the dirt. That punch had hit hard enough to disorient her... not to mention that old injury flared up again. The second punch was enough to finish the current fight, at least for Mike's team. Unable to properly defend, Samus was sent flying back a few dozen more yards, crashing to a halt right in front of Sophia. It was time for that team to duck out of battle; they'd have to trust the rest of their allies to cover them while they recovered.

The various strikes would take the Golurk down without much more of a struggle, the Audino ducking back against as the rest of the remaining troops stared them down.
They made no move to advance on them, with the leader and the first trump card down it seemed that some of them were undecided on what to do.

With the doorway clear the only ones able to stop them from getting inside were inside already.

They were battered but not downed, and from what it looked like, it seems that there were medics already at work to get what was left of them back up to strength.

Mike was capable of getting only so much medicine to his team at a time; with his injuries they'd have to go one by one. Each of the team would be getting Max Revives and/or Full Restores as necessary; it didn't help that his earlier failure to do so had caused most of them to be that injured in the first place. The combination of heat and precision Samus employed made Hans think of a skilled welder, employing an acetylene torch to slice through thick steel berms. In no time at all the foot-sized segment he had outlined was removed, falling to the ground with a muted "clang". Head on a swivel, the Colonel turned around. Two newcomers had arrived. Hostile? Possibly. More than likely, actually, by the look of things; for a moment, an eerie silence punctuated the area, the larger of the two made no sound, but waited for orders, or for enemy movement.

Jeff was ready as ever, the Magnezone being careful to control its electricity carefully. There was enough time to do it right, so no sense rushing. This would take only a minute or so, which would give Mike just enough time to get planning ready and to make sure the rest of his team was at least healed enough to fight. Physiologically they'd be fine momentarily, but psychologically... He'd heard stories of Pokemon whose trainers never let them actually rest, and they ended up mentally broken into thinking either they were strong enough to never need it or they were too weak to be able to fight without such medicine. Had things gotten that bad? He sure hoped not... though there might be one or two on his team that had fallen into that trap by necessity. He knew he could use a long rest after this, though if he weren't careful he might be sleeping permanently after this one...

A man reclines across the arms of his chair. He is alone in a wide, dark room. Smoke and incense hang heavy in the air and a dark red rug stretches across the wooden floor. Stone statues hang just out of view in the dim haze, formless outlines always watching. The smoke in front of him is settled into a circle, a translucent image revealed in the center.

"Move it along already," scratching at his painted face in boredom, he leans back over the arm of the chair until he's hanging upside down with his coiled up on the floor beneath his head. Sitting back up, he sees that things are finally moving towards the door. "Good. It's about time." The man shifts his position and leans against his elbow, propped on the armrest. "I kind of like this Kefka of theirs'. Gotta respect a man willing to wear makeup. But it would be a shame if the book closed before we got our own chapter." There was temptation to join in, but it wasn't his fight yet. He had his eyes on a different prize. And the little wizard needed to be out of the way first.

Erco was a patient man most of the time, but this was one of the rare instances where that commodity had ran scarce. It wasn't safe here, that was obvious, but moving the girl so soon wouldn't be much better considering her condition. The man was usually hard to read, but even someone lacking empathy couldn't miss the tension that contorted the bodyguard's face into a seemingly permanent scowl. An uneasy pace kept him in motion, flitting between the windows as if expecting to see trouble just beyond the panes.

Primarily because that was exactly what he figured would happen. A head start, the weird spy had said. Not off the hook.

For now he waited for his charge to regain consciousness, come what may, he'd have to salvage and rebuild the situation around that. Dealing with the police, when they showed up, would just have to be one facet of that.

The second rush of power helped the entire party take care of most lingering injuries. Both teams were ready to go, and even the 13th 'mon was ready to pound out the hits. Mike didn't usually pack much in the way of technique recovery items, but he had a few Elixirs, just enough to get Sophia her full moveset back. Oh, and a couple more in case any of the Dark Warriors could use them.

Speaking of, Mike did feel much better now. He gave Garland a thumbs-up. "Good to go over here." He was still a little mentally fatigued, but his body was at full power.

The group would rush at the door, the massive stone barrier, the horrible feeling of wrongness growing closer as they reached it. The thick stone doors held up against the charge for but an instant before abruptly vanishing completely as if it had been opened in an instant... with that out of the way the group would charge into the entry way only to find the entire place looking... erieely confusing...

The flash made Erco jump to his feet immediately, his first thought was a sniper's scope, but in that case he'd have heard the crack of a bullet against glass or concrete. That didn't happen, it was too slow in coming. Instead he heard the whoosh and boom of something much slower and significantly more powerful, an anti-tank warhead. It seems that the army from before had followed after all, and they brought in the heavy guns this time.

It was apparent that a force had somehow managed to inflitrate the city, how was hard to say but the effect was already obviously clear what their impact was, the parking lot was aflame from the destruction of the police vehicle and the surrounding cars, the woods nearby seemed to be the source of the attack, but as they watched a burst of gunfire came from the other end near the road, a pair of crashed, or stolen, cars blocking the main exit outwards.

The drowning gunfire served to muffling the sound of the flying team as it approached the roof of the building. By now they weren't really aiming at much of anything now, mostly just sweeping around o keep anyone from getting near a window.

The squad at the doors would flank to either side and pass directions along, the group of 6 men kicking in the front entrance and fanning out with weapons at the ready, one quickly firing a burst over the heads of anyone in the lobby.

The commotion down stairs was registered but put aside, the clatter of boots from above was much more pressing. If they didn't move fast, they might be pinned down and struck from both sides. He let his allies clear away the smoke and take the first shots, but they were frantic and fell off course. Erco sent out his cradily behind them to watch the rear while that first salvo was launched, and since it was a special attacker, it tossed an HP rock up the stairs to break the momentum of the offensive. Its trainer leveled his pistol at whoever was in the lead and attempted a Mozambique Drill. He learned last time that these soldiers were more resilient than your average bear, so no taking chances this time.

There was silence from her, as the man on the other end regurgitated the information he had been given. "Maybe he wasn't joking after all, eh?"

As she hung up, she was approached by a large man, decked in a sleeveless leather coat and matching pants. His muscled forearms, tanned from years under the sun, were covered in intricate tribal tattoos, and his square face, with beady eyes and white hair pulled back in a braid, was nearly devoid of emotion.

"So, what did the chief have to say?" he asked.

"In the absence of our missing contact, we're being reassigned."

"But..."

"But he wasn't bluffing. There is confirmed Silph remnant activity in this country. They are confirmed armed and dangerous. This is no longer an asset recovery mission- This has been reclassified as a combat mission. Chief's given us the go-ahead to use lethal force if we encounter resistance."

"Understood, ma'am."

"Prep a combat team and get the Sikorsky ready to go in fifteen minutes. I've already sent you the details of the mission."

Hans' mind reeled, searching for answers to what the fuck had just happened. It didn't seem like that attack did anything, but... Something felt wrong. Something felt very, very wrong. And the knight in not-so shining armor, which had come to replace the clown as their enemy, certainly was not a nice sight to behold.

Stahlos took a defensive stance around its master, in case something, be it the enemies in the mist, or the knight in front, dared to strike its master.

But still, despite the confusion the German man found himself succumbing to, there was still a battle to be fought. In a flash, there stood the giant ball of barbs that had been, in retrospect, less-than-useful in the previous battle. Maybe here, it could once again prove its worth.

"Tentantel, let's see if we can't start this show on a high note. Use Toxic... Right on the big one!"

Rage-filled eyes locking onto the man in armor, the angry ball of barbs flung a poison-tipped tendril at the enemy. Whether it hit or not was entirely up to the will of God.

The bullets would go wide at first, the soldier stepping aside as the thunderbolt attack went through, the Skarmory soldier quickly ordering a counter strike

The HP rock though would barely miss one of the soldiers to impact against his Honchkrow, the soldier ordering the wound pokemon back before the second one send down a Dark Pulse smash into one of the Honchkrow causing it to fly back out of the.

The shot nailed one of the soldiers hard, the man falling backwards out the back of the doorway apparently either down or dead, the second one would counter attack with another heavy shot of his own, firing the STG-44 in a spread down the stairwell itself, aiming for the cops first.

One hostile down it looked, but to trade, one of theirs was wounded. Erco motions cradily forward, and he moved up behind it so that the officers had some bulkier cover. Particularly the one who was carrying the Colonel's daughter. Priorities.

Noticing that the attackers had a honchkrow prompted the prehistoric pokemon to launch another ball of flickering, brown energy towards it. Much more effective than the other move it had to go on the offensive. The bodyguard continued to try and keep fire on the actual humans instead, putting a solid 5 rounds back up the stairs to try and see if he could go for two.

Mike's entire team got hit by the Discharge, the trainer and Starmie taking the hits especially hard. This guy wasn't kidding around any more; he was strong enough to simply fill the arena with hostile energy. That would be bad news for the entire team. He'd likely have to recall them soon, but for now he just needed to hold them out a little longer.

Mira had known the game plan from the start, the Starmie launching into a Rapid Spin and going straight for the enemy Magnezone. Maybe she could blow away the mist that shrouded the battlefield, and get in a little damage while she was at it...

Both enemies could be dealt with in relatively short order, but unless the spirit of luck intervened, only one could be dealt with at a time. A pair of steel-type enemies, one electrical as well. Both launching electrical attacks into the fray. The flashing energy bounded harmlessly off the impenetrable Stahlos, and caused only minimal damage to the angry ball of spikes that was Tentantel.

Hans' first thought, were he by himself, would be to use an earthquake attack from Stahlos to bring both enemies down in one go, but with allies, none of whom were currently prepared for such an attack, it was a foolish move to make. Still, that Magnezone had to be removed, and neither of the Colonel's current 'mons had any other useful attacks... "Unless..."

A grin crossed the German man's face. "Stahlos, swipe away at the magnetic one. Send it back to its master's belt-hooks. Dragon tail."

With a heave, the giant iron serpent swung its mighty tail, directing the brunt of the strike at the Magnezone.

The shots would nick the remaining soldier, the combined attacks finally bringing the Honchkrow down causing the second one to suddenly dive downwards in a slash of wind, the soldier ducking to avoid the second pair of shots before blind firing over the railing.

The final soldier on the roof would duck down as the Armored vehicle drove up, the man checking his load out once more as the Skarmory stood beside him.

The appearance of the attack team had been expected, the final reserve group remaining in cover for now, one vehicle alone wasn't worth the chance of exposure.

Inside the building the soldiers took a glance at the sudden power cut before hitting the sides of their gas masks, the men waiting for the attack to begin before the Emergency power would kick in. Of the group still sweeping the building, they'd finish with the second floor and near the steps, the sounds of fighting already echoing down from above as they slowed their pace, they didn't want to end up in the crossfire after all.

The muck would slow the ground zombies somewhat, the troops practicing a surprising bit of control as they would slowly circle around it.

The ones that closed in on the other dark warriors would lunge forwards in a surprising burst of speed, one trying to pounce on the Vampire to give it a taste of his own medicine while the other two attempted to grapple and and pin them down, one still blankly holding the knife it welded in life.

The enemies attacks missed, fortunately. Unfortunately, there was little that could be done to better the current situation. There were enemies blocking passage to the roof, and more than certain there were enemies occupying the other floors.

All that could be done was to fight it out. But with one officer wounded, and the other carrying the package, that would be easier said than done.

Erco and his pokemon took cover from the incoming firepower, a quick glance post fact proved that no one got hurt, this time. But they'd have to finish this sooner rather than later. The weaker of the two birds had been felled, but that skarmory proved more difficult. Unfortunately Erco had emptied all of his AP munitions into Garland and the machine gunners back at the ruins, and his normal ones would just plink off its steely hide.

Cradily would just have to try and pummel it to dust with my HP rock, while the Swiss man continued to snap shots back up to where the remaining soldiers were taking pot shots over the railing from.

Nervous system equivalent, causing the barbed ball of hate to freeze up in shock. Today was really, seriously, not the iron plant's day. It wanted to be back in the desert, clearing mines for soldiers with IQs half their weight. Clearing mines was the only time the ball of rage ever felt useful, ever felt at home. Just one little *thwack" of its barbed whips and they'd blow up harmlessly against its iron hide.

Once more the electric arc bathed the entire team in harmful power. Mira took it the hardest, being the only one truly vulnerable to such moves... but the Starmie was also having a hard time moving now. That Discharge had hurt more than Mike had expected, especially those on his team who were still out. The trainer had attempted to shield them from the attacks, to little effect.

In any case, this was likely to be the Starmie's last chance to do anything before she went down. None of her attacks were particularly useful, but she might be able to score a little extra damage with an Ice Beam aimed at the Klinklang. [0 freezes, 6 locks up due to paralysis.]

The Weavile jumped to attention. Compared to the battle-worn Steelix, the younger pokemon was a stark contrast, only having experienced battles that were controlled directly by its master for training.
