They made Charizard competitively viable at least.

Charizard Y+Dream World Venusaur is a really neat team and I only wish Blastoise was a better rapid spinner so it could get on that team

I like both of them too but honestly X is a lazy as fuck design. They -barely- changed a couple of elements and flipped his color palette to make it look more drastic than it actually is.

Pic related, can barely tell it apart from regular Charizard when the original color scheme is restored. It could've been much more interesting.

Both X/Y didn't really change much, all Y did was add a few more spikes and a longer tail and those wing things.

Both Charizard X/Y really only did 3 things
More spikes.
Changed the wings.
Added weird things to the shoulder/arm.

I like Y Zard because it actually stays true to the original design. I'm actually a little let down that GF decided to glorify X Zard through the Mega specials, Origins, and Smash when it looks like something that came out of DA.

Maybe a black dragon breathing blue flames would be more appealing if I were a kid again. That's who GF is trying to appeal most anyways.

Exactly how I feel. Y feels like a natural evolution of the original design whereas X looks like it only exists for the sake of pandering.

And they were successful at it I guess. Black/blue Charizard with Dragon typing would have caused my 12 year old balls to drop.

I meant brighter or darker red skin with pink in place of everything that was blue or regular orange skin with everything else gold. Pink flames are the hottest and fit more power alongside red while blue fits black. Gold just looks more powerful in general like a perfected orange and fits alongside the orange to better separate it from Y while still keeping close to the original design. Thanks anyways.

I love my shiny charizard Y best though. Purple looks great on it.
I don't get the hate with Charizard X though. It sounds like people are just hating it because it's popular, or looks like a generic black badass dragon. It's a bit childish to hate X because of that.

How are blue flames the problem and not the randomly black body? Blue flames are hotter than red or orange. It makes perfect sense for Mega Evolution to have blue or maybe even pink flames as a display of power. The black skin can only be argued because Charizard is black if it's shiny. It comes out of absolutely nowhere on the regular one. A better choice would have been leaving the skin orange or making it red.

X went right in everything bar design which is subjective, but Y could use some more moves/diversity

X can be a bulky booster with DD and WoW, bulky statuser, a stallbreaker or an outright sweeper while literally every single Y runs the exact same 3 moves with either roost, dragon pulse or earthquake in the last slot, not even ELO hell shitters use ancient power/HP ice anymore

Zard X is actually very nice, imo. I don't mind the "edgy" colour scheme, or even the jaw flames.

Not to mention that it's fun as hell to use.

Zard Y is alright. Not too fond of the three head spikes, but I do like that it's slimmer.

Why is nobody pointing out how lazy the design was on the fact that the wings are literally ripped right off of hawlucha. Like exact same model when you look in game.
