They're both pretty likely to happen. I mean, they gave Beedrill a mega in a Hoenn remake, so clearly there's no rhyme or reason as to when certain megas are released. They probably have already chosen the megas for the next Kalos game. It seems pretty likely that we're getting a Mega Slowking, Butterfree, and Froslass among others. It would've made sense to give them megas in their home region but Gamefreak do what they want.

Here's the difference. Feebas and Milotic are easily a counterpart to Magikarp and Gyarados while Flygon and Salamence have a fanon rivalry as well as an actual fight in Jirachi Wish Maker. Caterpie and Weedle are both the first Bug-types you ever first saw and both evolve really early with direct parallels to each other with Caterpie being a caterpillar and Weedle being a worm. Metapod is a chrysalis while Kakuna is appropriately named after a cocoon. Out of the 2 Butterfree is more majestic and looks more benevolent as a butterfly would while Beedrill is more threatening and looks more malevolent as a bee would.

It's fucking happening. Just you wait.

Butterfree is far more well known and loved than Beedrill will ever be. It's not about because it got one. It's because of what Butterfree is as a Pokemon and the very first one after the Kanto starters no less that it will happen eventually. Beedrill getting a Mega only reinforces this.

People just have to rage until GF caves in and make Mega Flygon, which was complete bullshit for not happening.

No i mean Regular Fearow only gets Acrobatics as it's most powerful stab which is negated by getting a mega. Since GF is too lazy to update its movepool the mega has to have a way to use its flying stab thus here comes aerilate.
It's basically Lando-T with a flying stab but without intimidate + fearow gets hone claws as a boosting move negating the need for a choice band.

Game Freak seems to either pair up Megas from the get-go, or save the counterparts of certain Megas for later versions.

Gardevoir in XY, Gallade in ORAS.
Mawile in XY, Sableye in ORAS.

Probably some more I can't think of off the top of my head. The point is, Beedrill got one, so it's at least possible that its counterpart will get one.

Tough claws gives it a decent boost but aerilate lets it abuse Quick attack and Facade atop of having Flying Stab Return.
You know that Mega Altaria enjoys having Pixilate Facade since it can't be crippled by burns.
Also let's look what Aerilate fearow with base 140Atk 140Bp Facade can do.
1.3*140*1.5=273BP
BASE FUCKING 273 POWER ON TO OF BASE 140 ATK AND AVAILIBLE BOOSTING MOVES.

Why Bug/Flying over Bug/Psychic though? I get that Flying is better offensively, but it's strongest Flying STAB is Air Cutter and the 4x Stealth Rock weakness would still be a huge hindrance.

Aerilate is lazy and overpowered.

If you want to boost, why not give it Adaptability? This thing has Drill Peck, which is an ok STAB, and Return, which would hurt tons with Adaptability.
