Most problems with RBYG can be chalked up to hardware limitations and the devs trying things to see what sticks and what doesn't. I'm sure most or all of these points have come up during the development of ORAS, like the exclusion of the bicycle challenge likely being that it may have distracted from the narrative of the Delta Episode.
I do agree that the shafting that the contests received was unnecessary and counter-productive, especially with most of the female protagonists in the TV show spending so much time and effort becoming contest masters.
A point this image could have brought up is how Mega Evolutions from ORAS are handled differently from the ones in XY. While I can think of only Mega Banette as a true failure from XY, ORAS provides at least three failures, maybe a stretch at five.
