I bet it will just so they can have an episode in the anime about Light Ball Pikachu vs Mega Raichu. Raichu, of course, will be the bad guy and Pikachu will "find inner strength" or some bullshit to beat Raichu.

I actually wouldn't mind if Pikachu evolved properly. Back in season 1 Pikachu didn't evolve because it didn't want to be pressured by others into a life-changing decision because of a small problem, now time has passed, it evolved emotionally, now all that's left is evolving physically.
