That's why I think of every single of us as the champion of a certain world.
Just think about it.
Legendaries pokemon are extremely rare, most of them are confirmed to be the only one of its species, iirc the Latis and Heatran are hinted to be more than one, not the majority of the others. It's just the OC the only one able to find, battle and capture them with the exceptions of N getting Reshiram/Zekrom and Ghetsis manipulating Kyurem. That's just two out of a fuckton of legendaries, the rest were captured by us.
To top that off, this Gen we got the Mega Evolutions, a very rare occurence that only the most powerful AND/OR caring trainers may reach with a Pokemon. There's very few people using Mega Evolutions, canonically those are Korrina, Diantha, Serena, Wally, Steven, Maxie, Archie and Zinnia if I'm not wrong (I don't consider the post E4 rematches as canon, but if they are, add some more), I may miss a couple of trainers but that's it. It's pretty safe to assume other rivals and champions are able to use them too.
So maybe these are the different worlds and timelines and multiverses Zinnia really hinted during Delta Episode, including or not the supposed worlds where Mega Evolutions are not possible and giving Game Freak a 'point' about why most legendaries are allowed in VGC: We're the Champions of infinite differente worlds fighting for the Multiverse's World Championship.
It's just great. Isn't it?
