Fuck, /vp/. I'm trying to fill the dex legally, but this shit is fucking tiring. I already caught 300 pokemanz and i still have 420 more to catch.

Don't worry, man, you'll get there soon. I did it over Christmas/New Year in 2013/2014 when I had to play the GTS for all it was worth; with everything we have access to now, it shouldn't take much time at all.

That's why you just do it as you go through the game. I didn't put in any effort into actually completing the dex and just caught every new Pokemon I encountered while playing through XY with a team of 3-4 or so while I kept 2-3 benchwarmers for level up evolutions with the EXP share and by the time I got to the E4, I was like 80% done with the national dex.

Traded it all to ORAS and did the same thing and I was like 95% done before I even started trying to go for the shiny charm.

I actually did this until i reached mauville. But then it just became a pain in the ass to spend HOURS trying to catch all the mons in the dexnav just to have to go there again when i had the rods and surf.
So I just went on my normal run.

I did the exact same thing and only had about 50% completion after I beat the game.
Including the fact that I transferred over about 150~ unique species from SS/BW.

Anyway OP: it only took me about two weeks to get a shiny charm off the GTS. Just keep at it. Eventually you'll get it.

Living dex on the other hand has already taken me about five weeks, and I'm only about 80% done. Guess it might be different if I didn't have to go back to uni five weeks ago.

Well, you have about 440 or so before you even get the national dex in XY. Take out the Pokemon you can't get Kalos native with only XY and events from the national dex number and then finish those 10 or so slots with the post-national dex Pokemon you can get from things like Friend Safaris, then you're gonna hit about 500-600. Out of 718, I got 592(from subtracting XY's unobtainable list of 126 on Serebii), which is 82% of the dex and doesn't include any legendaries besides XYZ, Mewtwo, and birds. So even if I didn't do that properly, it's entirely possible.

Maybe you're just not good at catching Pokemon or something. Most of those unobtainables are available from ORAS since they're mostly random legendary trios and such.

I am trying to get as many as I can from Y before I start importing from B/W. I hate that ugly Pokeball sprite they use for import registered Pokemon though.

Also I'll never get a legal Manaphy. Just release another Manaphy evet already Game Freak.
