Is it worth picking up X/Y?

I've played at least two games in every gen (RY/SC/RE/DP/BB2/?) along with most spin offs, but I bought Y, never played it and have now lost it. How do they stand up to the other games in the series? Inb4 gen war, I just want opinions if they're good games in their own rights.

They're okay games, but you're better off with ORAS because of the useful tutors, Megas and pentagon legends. That, or you can wait until the next game, however, there are some rumors stating there won't be a new game this year, based around some decisions they're making with the movies and such.

Pros:
>first foray into 3D and battle models actually look like Sugimori art brough to life
>looks very pretty in general, no more resized sprite awkwardness
>online features are pretty much perfected now
>largest ever regional dex, loads of Pokemon to catch and use in the region
>you can play dress up

Cons:
>extremely low amount of new Pokemon. If you count megas it brings you to just below 100 (which is still lowest but closer to standard) but most megas aren't even accessible til post-game anyway
>story is kinda forgettable
>cities, especially the capital, are kinda disappointing
>EXTREMELY fucking easy. Like phenomenally easy even for a Pokemon game. I rotated a 12-Pokemon team just to spread out the EXP gain and I STILL stomped everyone. Recommend not using the new EXP share if you want a challenge.

Pro/Con depending on your perspective:
>shinies are now much easier to get
>attaining perfect IV Pokemon now SUPER easy with Friend Safaris

They have release, idle, multiple attack and faint animations.
That's more than there's EVER BEEN before
