I never keep legendaries in my team or pc, even if they are not that OP. The games and anime usually reveal legendary pokemon have vital roles to play in maintaining world order, so I always release the legendaries I've caught. It just seems kind of petty to keep a legendary and risk the world falling apart just so I have a easier time battling people.

If I play as male I use only male pokémon
since gen 5 I breed only use bred or in game gift pokémon (starters for example)
I nickname my team pokémon but I mix Latin and Japenese words from what they were based on.
I don't use legendary just because of the term.
I'm 25
I only hatch eggs in the town I started.

Whenever I'm about to start a new game, once I've migrated my fully trained bros to their future gens, I withdraw a group of Pokémon I've never used before. Early route mons, HM slaves, Pokédex filler; stuff that's sat in the PC for almost the entire game. I'll take this band of misfits to various scenic areas in the game, surf around, bike ride in the sun, let them KO some early game wild Pokémon, just so they get the chance to show off their long dormant abilities before they're deleted to digital oblivion forever. Once all this is done I travel back to the first town in the game, and talk to Mom. "Welcome home Anon, you've been on a long adventure. Why don't you take a short rest?" Then the screen fades to black and the healing track plays. I reset the power before the image resumes. Then I erase those memories and experiences, and start them all anew.

If I transfer things over for an in-game run, I prefer to make them feel more like in-game events rather than just exchanging a caught mon for another pokemon.

e.g, ORAS I wanted to use Clamperl/one of its evos since it was one of the few I never used in a run, but the issue was you got it so late so I bred a random one up, didn't trade it over until I got a rod from dewford and the moment I fished/caught a pokemon and caught it, I traded it over and imagined that I just fished up said Clamperl instead of a Tentacool.

Another example was when I played Alpha Sapphire and when I entered a patch of grass from the dexnav and kept finding Seviper, I imagined that one of them eventually was actually a Zangoose and they were just rare since it was a Seviper infested area since the whole rivalry. I caught said seviper, traded over a wild Zangoose and acted like nothing out the ordinary happened. Easily the most autistic so far.

I used my starter to sweep Wally, one other Pokemon (except linoone) to sweep every E4 member, and then my entire team (including linoone) against Steven. I almost lost because I got cocky, and he ended up killing Mega Sceptile, but I revived it as regular Sceptile (while saccing linoone) and finished off his megagross with it.

It was anime as fuck. Seeing it in the end credits made it even better.

I keep my Pokémon in level order, in party and the PC.
All Pokémon get names.
I don't use HM Slaves.
Try to always have a dude (or dudette) with Pickup.
I always plant the same berry as what was originally there unless there's another one of the same type.

I have gender guide lines for me mons. I will never use a male Gardevoir, same with Mismagius, Roserade, Eeveelutions, etc...
Also I demand to have at least a decent nature on my mons, even if I'm not going to ev train them.
You can imagine the struggles I've had of finding a modest female eevee for a casual play-through.

All my Pokemon must be breed with 4 of their most useful egg moves. If there's a Pokemon that can't have egg moves, like Caterpie or Magikarp, I make sure they're born with Bug Bite or whatever move they learn before evolving.

I dont like to raise legends. I see them as trophies. My prized and supposed rare pokemon. I dont normally use them in battle. If i do its against japanese players that hardcore nerd kid at school.

I like to use megas during battle. But in my teams it requires a specific set.

One mega. No two pokemon that can mega evolve in one team
Each pokemon must be a unique type/weakness.
Example of this is having jolteon and rotom on the same team. Since they have different weaknesses. But Infernape and Conkeldurr is not ok since they both share too many of the same weakness.
They must all have different items. No two same items.

I like to mix it up that way. And keeps my teams fresh.

I dont like to inject my game.

I keep imperfect pokemon. If it has 17 ivs in attack or 21 in defense I dont mind. Id still use them anyway. I just change playing style for that pokemon based on its stregnth.

You can catch a Pokemon by just throwing Pokeballs at them. Most first route mon have huge catch rates. You don't even need to weaken half of them

I hate using finite items. In every game I have a stockpile of mana and life potion bottles. I'm the guy who gets regenerating health and sits there for minutes waiting for his character to regenerate.

Also I take forever to make a choice:

>~20 minutes actively choosing the fossil for omanyte or kabuto
>5 minutes every time I have to decide which move to learn
>10 minutes choosing my team

...and I always regret what I choose.

I rarely name my pokemon and if I do I name as many as i can, I think because i grew up watching the anime and not playing the games, it's weird fro them to be called anything but their given names

I often save right next to my husbando from the game if he has a set location postgame. Or at least on/near a bed/couch/chair in their location. (For example, I usually save in Sycamore's lab in XY, and the Plasma Frigade next to Colress in BW2)

it gets annoying in Alpha Sapphire when I wanna save in the Aqua base next to Archie. But I make my way through more times than you'd think just so I can be by my husbando when I'm not playing)

I look up Gym teams and use the same ammount of Pokemon they use. Sometimes I spend few minutes to make up silly strategy.
Now with AmieI always praise my Pokemon but only after hard battle. I use Amie only in pokemon centers.
Like many of us I imagine pokemon using attacks, even now when animations are more life-like.
I curse very often, but never on my Pokemon.I know they try hard, and I am the one who failed.
I keep my Ingame bros in one box, the other box is filled with better versions of them- often called after the first versions.

Every new gen I transfer my living dex but leave my competitive teams. I feel like they've done so much work and deserve to retire. If I make a Pokemon of the same species I tend to nickname the the same name as their predecessor, adding '+' if they've gotten a buff between gens.

I keep legendaries as trophies, along with event pokemon. I never set them into battle or on my team, only in the PC. The same for shiny, in-game trades, gifts, and encountered Pokemon (like Snorlax).

I played through Colosseum with only Umbreon and Espeon because I didn't want to give any captured Pokemon experience.

I also am trying to do a live dex in Pokemon Y, but I want them all to say they were from Kalos (meaning I'll have to hatch them from an egg and raise them myself). I might give up on this escapade though (too much work).
