Rumor has it that their next 2 platforms will share a common architecture from AMD, that merges x86 and mobile architectures into one unified platform. To prevent software droughts, Nintendo is probably going to go with this setup for their Wii U and 3DS successors. This could directly impact Pokemon on multiple levels. Quote related.

I actually liked getting fewer new pokémon in XY, I am not entirely against large numbers of new pokémon being made in a year if they can keep the quality on top, which I don't think they can.

Unless they're really creative with the roadblocks removing HMs completely is a bad idea.

except they could easily replace them with items that fulfill the same purpose ingame without restricting your pokemon to moves that are with one exception sub-par past the early game. I've been using the eon flute to the exclusion of Fly in ORAS and it's fucking great. not only that they could be items given to you by the gym leaders instead of the whole "you can only use this move if you beat gym leader X" thing.

I just really thought that made those games seem so fresh. Everyone here prefers BW2, but I was kind of annoyed with all the old guys brought back. Took away that quality that made Unova so fresh.

I know they put old ones in BW in the post game, but I mean that's whatever. Having to build a team and challenge the gyms and then the champ with a new 150 like in the old days was so nice. So maybe then I liked it so much because I am a "genwunner" and I just yearned for simplier times.

Kill yourself. It's been proven time and time again that Gen V had even more great Pokemon. No older Pokemon until the postgame where you stop giving a fuck was brilliant.

I hate Unova but I've got to agree with you.
I fucking hate BW2 and the trend it lauched to just pour in old gen pokes, which resulted in XY having just a few news mons and shitload of older ones.

Really? I thought the wide selection of Pokemon available in Kalos was one of the best things about X/Y (although the lack of new pokemon was kinda shitty) - we're going to be going some 800-strong by the time Gen 7 rolls around (not counting megas and formes) so quite frankly any region having a regional pokedex of less than 300 is a fucking travesty

Unless "no backwards compatibility" doesn't include pokebank, I'll be very angry.

If they ever do another reboot that requires me to give up all my pokemon AGAIN, I'm quitting.

But if it's just that I have to wait for some update, then it's cool beans.

I mean Gen II brought baby pokemon and new evolutions like Scizor, Steelix, Umbreon & Espeon etc.

Gen IV brought all those new evolutions too like Magmortar, Dusknoir, Togekiss etc.

Gen VI introduced mega evolutions to give older pokemon some love whilst introducing the least amount of new pokemon yet.

Then you get Gen III & V which gave us entirely new pokemon.
