Diamond and Gold, but I think I've made my decision.
Diamond:
>was going through a bit of a depressing time, had recently got laid off from work, so this was the one thing I played to get myself cheered up (I was 19)>Chimchar was my ideal starter, which was odd since Water has always been my favourite type Everything about the game clicked with me. A lot of people shit on it for being 'slow', and while I can understand that, I feel it was a good way to soak in all of the game. I liked the visuals, they were(for lack of a better word), comfy. Everything was comfy as fuck. The music was fantastic, too. Music plays a big part in whether or not I actually like a game, I feel it's one of the more under-appreciated and overlooked aspects of game development.
Sinnoh itself is a pretty great region IMO, it's definitely one of the more underrated ones. I remember seeing how big Mt Coronet was on the official map and thinking to myself that I really wanted to explore that.
The villains were fucking great, and actually felt like a possible threat and not just a big joke. Also, Mars a qt.
One of the criticisms I never got for DP were that there was no post-game content. Do they completely ignore the entirety of the Battle Zone? I think a mini-region being explorable in the post-game is way better than some facility. Yeah, the Frontier is great, which Platinum added, but I guess I never cared for that sort of thing.
Overall DP, while definitely not the best in the series, were very enjoyable and helped me through some times. inb4 'sinnohfetus', but really, they get a little too much hate.
