why all the 'gen 6 is shit' memes? i've played at least 2 games from every gen over the last 15ish years and really enjoyed x. loads of pokemon and it felt like a proper adventure

the only downsides i can think of were diantha being a really forgettable champion and some pretty shit soundtracks, but overall would definitely play through again.

Because this is /vp/ and the one thing we love more than ebin memes is complaining.

I had a blast playing Y, because it felt like I was truly connected to the global Pokémon community. I'm sad you didn't get a chance to play it on release because that was a super weird time. I remember battling a heap of people who were at the same point in the game as me through the PSS. We were all discovering Kalos together. It was really great.

And I think that's part of the reason ORAS was so disappointing (not bad, just not as good as we had kind of built up in our heads). There wasn't the same sense of discovery. We knew the Hoenn region already and the new features from X and Y weren't new anymore. We were suddenly restricted in many ways we were just recently so free - Hoenn's dex is tiny compared to Kalos, and we'd gone from customisation to the same uniform player characters. Soaring and DexNav are great, but ORAS felt like a reskin of XY rather than a true upgrade of the original

X and Y had a small post game, but remember "gotta catch em all" is apart of that, so that lengthens it a bit.
You already BEAT the game, why does there have to be like a whole second game after?

Everything after the 2nd Gym had nothing to do, it's JUST going to the next town and taking down the Gym leader, absolutely noting in between, it doesn't even have to be plot, but make the routes more alive with more things to explore, the towns should have had more things to do in them, but instead you just walk in, go to the gym, and walk out.

Bro, there are 721 Pokemon. The number of team combinations I can make are astronomical.

All I want is a "frontier" or "place" or "subway" or "tower" (I hope you know what I mean), where I can go, and try out various Team Combo's against tough CPU players.

That's all I want in postgame. I don't want another fucking adventure. I just want a way to pass the time with my 700+ Pokemon.

I may be wrong but im pretty sure every game had that to begin with before x and y i remember starting nuzlockes without saving in black 2 even though i had a save file so like to hear never had thing

At least there is people in this thread with taste. I think x and y is the best since HGSS. I loved Kalos as a region and the 3d thing is pretty good. I also loved the costumization of your character and I hope they keep it in the next gen/game. I wish they had the DexNav in it though.

I love X/Y, but compared to B/W, B2/W2, and HG/SS the games are mediocre. I still enjoy them, but can't help but feel some of it felt rushed. Hardly any of the map or characters were memorable to me. On top of that, there isn't much to do post-game besides the Looker quest, the general Battle mansions, and a very few legendary Pokemon to catch. I still enjoy it, and am playing it right now.

Most the Kalos haters now will mostly be bitching that gen VII's first entry will pale in comparison to the Z games in 2 years give or take.

I hated the map layout and the story, as well as some of the smaller things like gyms and the Ninja trio and many other things. I loved Y more than any pokemon game since probably emerald. (Now it's the OR remake) I can see some peoples points but it all boils down to the famous 4 chan exclusivity. The rest of the world hates it therefore I love it because I'm le obscure fan.

Not a big fan of X/Y, although it's mostly just personal rather than objective. The amount of new pokemon is the lowest ever, and I don't like to use older mons in my first run of a new gen.
I liked Alder and Team Flare, but I don't like the fact that that you beat them even before the 8th gym, and then you never see them again aside from a small post game sidequest.
I'm not a big fan of the genwunner or Lucario pandering either, and the rivals were boring and almost as bad as RSE's rivals.
The game was too easy. And before someone says "it's a pokemon game" this was too easy even by those standards. Platinum was pretty difficult, as was BW2 at times. The fact that the only trainer with 6 Pokemon was the Champion was also really stupid.

I still had fun, but it's not as good as Gen 5. Even BW1 was more difficult and had more content..

Their goal was stupid and lysander was an equally stupid antagonist, so in the next gen I hope they introduce a new team with grand goals that are not that stupid like for example Team Galactic.
