Generation 6 is literally a repeat of Generation 3

XY and the original RS are similar. Xerneas and Yveltal share the same life/beginning and death/end theme as Kyogre and Groudon. Both Zygarde and Rayquaza are the Pokemon who balance the other two. XY and RS both represent a major graphical jump in the series. RS made the jump from GBC to GBA graphics. XY made the series jump to full blown 3D. XY and RS both have a crummy post-game with only one city to explore. XY has Kiloude while RS has the Battle Tower island.

FRLG and ORAS share many similar characteristics as well. FRLG came out in 2004 while ORAS came out in 2014. Each title strictly reuses the exact same story in the main game but with repairs. FRLG and ORAS both have a pointless restriction that angered players. FRLG had it where you could not evolve Johto evolutions such as Crobat before the post-game. ORAS dumped customization from XY. Both games focus heavily on post-game exploration. FRLG has the Sevii Islands while ORAS has soaring with over 30 small islands. Each game allows access to the remaining Pokemon and legendaries that were not in RS or XY. FRLG and ORAS both put focus on an event legendary from their counterpart regions Hoenn and Kalos. FRLG put some attention on Deoxys while Hoopa’s mischief is scattered all throughout Hoenn in ORAS.

The question now is what will be the so called “Emerald” of Generation 6?
