The savagely struck Magnezone launched back towards its master with far more speed than was healthy, the knight lashing up the ball to retrieve it as another flash of red replaced the removed pokemon.

Meanwhile, the other strikes were either fended off or dodged by the knight and his pokemon.

Of course whether or not the change was a good one was entirely up in the air once it had been revealed just what it was. A Heatran roared disapproval at the enemies before it as Garland's energy reached a peak and something else happened.

"Let us see how you deal with the Fiend of Water. Arise, Kraken! Show them your power!"

A writhing mass of tentacles came from a tear in space, water cascading with it and being directed towards Garland's foes.

"Now, Heatran, purge them in flames. Heat Wave! Klinklang, get rid of the icy rat. Gear Grind."

The cave rumbled dangerously, Garland raising his blade above his head to deflect any falling chunks of rock that might fall towards him as the ground pitched and heaved. He was clipped more than once, of course, but the damage was minimal with his own pokemon and the fiend of water taking the brunt of the damage.

And damaged they were, as the attack had hit two of them like the force of nature it was.

"It is time to rob you of your advantage. Klinkang, Gravity."

Space lurched as the gears began to rapidly turn and force a heavier gravity on all those present, friend and foe alike.

Of course, now things were looking up in a slightly different way. Garland pointed an armored hand at the white haired youth and his slightly more immobilized bird.

"Thundaga."

Lightning arced off his hand towards the legendary bird and its rider, the smell of burnt ozone lacing the air.

"The rest of you, again."

Once more a wave of heat and water rushed forth from the knight to meet his foes, unimpeded by the harsh change that the pokemon themselves were.

The shots would go wide again, the soldier hobbling back as another shot slammed through his uniform into his leg, rolling a little he would get further away from the railing before reloading, reaching down and tossing another smoke grenade down to cover him. The final soldier would pause by the door before sending the Skarmory down to dive bomb the Rock type below it with a carefully aimed strike even as the wounded soldier finished reloading and rolled back over again to fire blindly back down. His final partner's weapon unsuitable for the close quarters.

The trick play had allowed Colonel Lubeck's team to score a hit, but the rest of them had fared not nearly so well. In addition, the sudden change in gravity had forced Mike's team to drop to the floor much earlier than expected, just in time to take the combo attack. None of Mike's currently active team, nor the trainer himself, were feeling so well now.

Mira, Mike's Starmie, had taken enough damage from the last round of attack to drop. She'd have to be replaced, but with who? ...No, best to hold off on a switch for now. Those who were already out were best suited until they could no longer engage. Why Mike hadn't started with that plan... Well, he hadn't expected combat to begin so quickly after entering.

Samus took over at point, the Blaziken charging in and throwing another Sky Uppercut at the Heatran. The intense Gravity would make it harder for both of them to move; as such, the firebird wouldn't actually be leaving the ground. In the meantime, Paula and Sophia were better off defending, at least until it was their turn to attack. [Because of Gravity, 3 and 7 also hit, in addition to any evens.]

With the soldier wounded, cradily sought to drain life from the injured man that was firing on them with giga drain, noting they'd be an easier target than the iron-feathered bird. If that didn't finish the trainer off, another snapshot from his broomhandle would be attempted to seal the deal.

If it didn't, he'd merely try to clip the bird. It wasn't AP, but it likely wouldn't be pleasant all the same.

Enemy returning fire. The soldier, a jumpy rookie fresh from boot, that had fired on the enemy had taken a return burst from the enemy. Fortunately, the ballistic plate underneath his uniform protected him from the enemy's antiquated rounds. But now, team 1 had the advantage. While the first soldier fired a return burst, his teammates took a more careful aim at the others, using the commotion made by their first teammate to keep enemy attention off of them.

Now, on the second floor, another group of enemies had been sighted. Team 2, consisting of more hardened veterans, took their slow time acquiring their targets, hiding behind cover and keeping a low profile as they carefully took aim at their targets.

Another shot connected with the downed officer. Garland watched once more as the strikes laid into his pokemon, the Heatran reaching dangerous levels. He would need to recall it or let the beast fall...

For now though, it could stand, so it could fight. One more blow might or might not bring it down, but that did not matter to him.

Seeing the focus on keeping the bird afloat, Garland once more directed another lance of lightning at it and the trainer atop it. Best to remove it now before it became a problem.

The swamp would slow the undead greatly, some of them staggering to a halt while others would continue to trudge on unaware, the ones attacking the group kept trying to close in, Vilbert's bite would chomp down on the almost broken arm, the Zombie responding it to bite right back again with a draining strike.

The attempting to attack Bikke was quickly tossed away from the force of the throw, the others still cut off by the batter and distance to catch up, the Drizz'l roll however would fail to dislodge his unwanted passenger, though he would hear the cracking of bones as the corpse hit the ground again as it tightened it's hold on him.

The magnetically-driven pistons in the armored warhorse screamed as Metagross pushed them into overdrive, lunging forward to deliver a series of furious blows with its forearms.

As it turns out, that thing about draining attacks works both ways. The zombie's bite instead has the effect of weakening it. Vilbert struggles against its grip and Bikke moves up behind, pulling off the zombie's helmet and grabbing at either side of its head, attempting to squish. The rain of rocks would hit some of the mysterous figures, the blizzard also taking it's toll a little, but it was still enough for some of the chanting to finish long enough to allow a glow to surround the Heatran.

Such a powerful Surf attack couldn't be stopped by Mike's active Pokemon. Samus dropped to one knee, the Blaziken clearly out of stamina. If hard-pressed, she could continue the battle, but that wasn't advisable in her present condition. Another substitution would have to be made.

The building's layout had been another problem, the building had been too large to adquately cover with everyone so they had been forced to use a mobile defense with only a single picket to cover each entrance, with the pincer attack not happening through they quickly made their move.

With two guarding the hostages, one on each entrance, and two trying to get into the stairwell, the only two left in reserve quickly made their way to the lobby even as the one soldier standing behind at the second floor quickly opened up on the JSDF force as they got to the top of the stairs, his own mask glowing with the same tint as before, though at this range it would be an easy hit.

The Lobby soldier still kept to his own position as he finished the rest of his mag before reloading, the first reservist opening fire with his own SMG from another side exit of the Lobby as soon as he arrived, the third hanging back to prime a grenade.

The final soldier finally reached the stairway door, slowly turning the handle, deciding not to risk shooting through the door blindly even as he set aside a grenade for just in case.

To be fair, the enemy soldiers had a slight advantage over the JGSDF troops, in that they had time to prepare their positions and take hostages. However, against superior technology and firearms, they were severely outdated. As the other soldiers opened fire on Team 1, they found the 9mm rounds from their sub-machine pistols being met with an equal barrage of 5.56 from four Howa 89 automatic rifles. The newbie, unlucky as he was to first catch the enemy's eyes, took more than his fair share of lucky rounds to his less-armored body parts. Down he went, clutching his injured arm as his three teammates advanced on the enemy.

Against the bullet-resistant plating worn by the JGSDF troops, however, their 8mm Kurz rounds were significantly less effective than the JGSDF's 5.56 rounds against, at best, antiquated armor or bare skin at worst.

With the last soldier he could see out of the fight, they could almost press out of here, but doing so now would leave the bird separating him and his charge, which could be bad considering the increasing sounds of combat from further down. To that end he spat the rest of his magazine into the comparatively softer wings of the Skarmory to try and cripple, if not KO, it.

The act of unlife draining unlife would seem to mean nothing to the Zombie as it kept at it, for some reasons the effect only encouraging it as it kept on

The head strike wouldn't exactly squish the head, but it was more than enough to crack the skull under the helmet, sending the now once again unlifeless corpse back to the ground again, the slash would do a little better, knocking it back to the ground as well even as the rest of them continued to get held up by the batter, the heat from it cooking a few of them down and hardening the ground under them, some barely forcing their way out of it after a lot of effort.

Miss as it was, whatever was left of the zombies around the bomb were swifly incinerated by the blast, the massive explosion booming across the valley itself, throwing up dust and debris into the sky...

Garland would soon find himself in the mix as well, some of the pinned zombies attempting to knock him even more down into the mix.

Grappling with the zombie was proving fruitless and Vilbert was just hurting himself, but Bikke soon crushed its head. A harsh laugh echoed out from beneath the helm of the knight as the titan of steel and fire was brought back from the brink, weathering the continuous strikes dealt against it with varying efficiency, some dealing no damage at all against the thick hide of the beast.

Kraken fared just as well, overall, even if hit by a strike. The fiend was more than prepared to continue fighting after a single blow, nothing that small would stop it.

"Again! Bathe them in your wrath!"

Once more a cascade of water, a torrent of flame, and the cruel sound of gears echoed in the cave. There was but one chance. Where once there had been lightning, there was now fire. A vicious explosion erupted near one of his enemies as Garland directed a hand towards his fellow steel type trainer.

The two rifles would strike home, the lobby soldier taking three to the chest before going down just as he went to toss a grenade over head. The second floor soldier would go down from a similar series of shots, though the time was enough for the other guard to reach the door to the roof and open it, the man quickly tossing a grenade inside before slamming it shut again, not even caring if they were by the door or above it, just out of the expectation that the distraction would bring enough time for the rooftop group, not knowing that most of the force was already out of action.

With his task done he'd instead load up and prepare to hit them the moment they got up top, bracing for the rest of the forces attack.

The remaining soldiers stuck to their positions, the other one in the lobby hurled a a frag of his own into the center of the room before ducking away into one of the side halls to force them to keep sweeping the building, the other reservist quickly got the message from the sounds of fighting that the enemy had made a break through and began falling back as well, pausing only at the door to set up an impromptu grenade trap as an early warning.

At first it appeared as if the Heatran would remain standing after taking the savage blows from the ape striking it, but even with the empowerment gained from the fiery blast not contained via Stop, the beast fell. It simply could not take that much damage and remain standing.

Thankfully, the same could not be said for his other pokemon and Kraken. While hurt, Klinklang remained conscious and able to battle, and Kraken was still barely wounded.

The knight returned the fallen legendary and replaced it with another of his team, a Steelix of his own appearing in a flash of light.

"Klinklang, refresh Gravity. Steelix hit them with a Rock Slide. Kraken, wash them away."

The metal serpent roared, sweeping its tail towards their enemies and sending a cascade of sharp stone forwards as gravity continued to push downwards and waves washed forth.

And again the knight pointed an armored hand at the metallic spider opposing him, fire blossoming at his gesture.

The success of the Close Combat barrage had provided a renewed inspiration for Mike and his team. There was no time to celebrate though, given that more enemy attacks were incoming. Having just taken down the enemy Heatran, Goku flung himself at his next opponent, the victorious Infernape going for a second win by again engaging in a bout of Close Combat. [Once more, 3 and 7 hit because of Gravity. Infernape's at -1 defense level, so another Surf-level hit will drop him.]

Mike himself was unfazed by the Muddy Water, as were the two Gardevoir he still had on the defensive. Paula was still by her trainer's side, while Sophia was making sure Bakura's Articuno could set up.

Samus had managed to remove herself from direct combat, though the Blaziken was still vulnerable should any attacks be specifically directed at her. She was too tired to fight normally, and the team wasn't nearly desperate enough to call her back in just yet. Maybe she could catch her breath, at least...

The Infernape was simply too badly injured to continue fighting after such an impact.

"You did great, Goku! Come back!" Mike went for his belt once more, deliberating over who to tag in next. It took him only a moment. "Cassy, you're on!" Cassy, in this case, referred to Cassandra, Mike's Absol. She would be the next to face off against the team's most formidable foe yet. Unlike most of the team, she usually held an item, a Razor Claw on a pendant around her neck to enhance her already Super Luck. The Absol rushed in, natural claws glowing black with a Night Slash aimed at the Aegislash. [3 and 7 are still normal hits because of Gravity; 0, 2, or 4 crit because crit boosts.]

Sophia had done her best to intercept the boulder barrage headed for Blue, but there wasn't nearly enough of her to cover everything. Even a Gardevoir couldn't have perfect defenses all the time... She'd just have to hope the Articuno could stay in the air on its own.

'Staying in the air' wasn't really possible at the moment, but the Articuno was still doing a decent job of staying in the battle. Although with the Kraken's attacks, it was getting harder.

The knight laughed at the attempted strike from the Absol, speaking quickly to cause his own pokemon to react.

The Dark attack connected with the already defending pokemon, negating the blow and severely reducing the attack of the enemy.

It was then that the energy peaked once again, another being coming forth form the misty darkness.

Cassandra growled as her slash bounced off the Aegislash's shield. She'd put a lot of power behind that strike, only to see it so easily parried... If she could just get one good hit in she'd have this fight won! Leaping into the air to avoid another torrent of earth, the Absol delivered another Night Slash as part of landing. The rest of the team has once again evaded the torrent of Ground assaults, but there was no telling how long they could keep it up. Sophia was having trouble defending Blue, hoping it'd be necessary for only a couple more rounds; the one Gardevoir was getting tired after taking a barrage of rocks head-on.

Again a pokemon fell to the Metagross as it rampaged, Garland returning it and replacing it with another. A flash of red revealed an Aggron. An Aggron with a strange gemstone embedded in its armor.

"Mega Evolution."

*Insert Henshin Here*

A light bathed the steel pokemon as it grew and changed, becoming at once more dangerous and powerful than before. It roared defiance at the enemy.

"Iron Head the Absol. Aegislash, Sacred Sword the same. Kraken, Lich, continue to lay waste to their field."

The massive beast of metal rushed forward with an insane roar, spiked head coming down viciously at the quadruped at the same time a blade laced in energy sought its vitals.

Once more earth and water rose up to lash at their enemies, Lich and Kraken doing what they could to destroy the opposing team.

Garland, however, took a different route this time. His energy gathered up and released in a massive burst of light targeting all his foes.

"This Stahlos here is one of sixteen that Kaiser Wilhelm I had imported into Prussia from Japan, at the request of Bismarck who wanted to use them to bolster the soon-to-be German empire's army. Of those sixteen, only this one has seen continuous combat since it arrived. The others either died in combat or were decommissioned. He's tough as shit, and just as loyal if you treat him right." Describing the steel serpent held within, the senior officer passed the sphere over to Hans, a process he would repeat with four of the remaining five spheres.

"Sir?" asked the young Lieutenant "What about the sixth?"

"Stolloss is by far the most destructive of the six that you've been assigned. It's the result of three generations of breeding to create the ultimate military pokemon. It's a massive monster, capable of tearing down anything in its path with little thought for its own survival. The only problem is, it doesn't take orders very well. The last person that got assigned this particular Stolloss was damn near torn in half. If you can tame it, there will be a series of medals and promotions in your future. If not..."

Gracefully, Hans tossed high the orb containing his iron dinosaur. In a flash of light, Stolloss stood before the powered-up enemy, roaring with all the fury that it could muster.

"Stolloss" Hans said "It is time."

A light shone from within the Colonel's wristwatch, glistening bright and true like the morning sun. From within Stolloss' heart, there shone a like energy. The two lights pulsated, matching the rhythm of their counterpart until they were in unison. At that moment, Stolloss became more.

Erupting from underneath its stony skin came armored plates of steel, covering the dinosaur's body until everything was enveloped in the glistening metal. Triumphantly, the now fully-ironclad monster bellowed forth a scream of great and terrible fury, great enough even to shake the very foundations of the temple.

"Mega-Stolloss" said Hans "It's good to see you."

But Mega-Stolloss was not the only of the Colonel's monsters present on the battlefield. There too was Metagross; ever the workhorse, responsible now for the fall of two of the enemy's beasts in a row. "Metagross, aid the bird in removing the lich, while Mega-Stolloss acclimates himself to the new battleground."

Nodding, the iron quadruped charged once more, forelimbs now glowing with a brilliant, icy-blue sheen.

The bright light momentarily stunned the team. None of them had ever seen it before, so they had no idea what was coming. When it was finished, they dropped their collective jaws. "...What the?!" How the hell did that Aggron do that?! What kind of sorcery was this?!

It didn't matter right now, those incoming attacks were about to tear Cassandra apart! Only her danger sense had kept her from being stuck between the two attacking Steel types. Still she pressed on with a Night Slash against the sword and shield 'mon; c'mon, she needed a good hit now... [Once more, 3 or 7 also hit because of Gravity; 0, 2, or 4 crit because high crit odds, and a crit deals full normal crit damage with no debuff.]

The rest of the team was starting to have trouble with the undead fiend's waves of ground-based energy. They weren't getting through for much, but they were still having an effect of some kind. They needed to end this part of the fight fast before it got out of hand...

With the seeming evolution beyond evolution that Garland had pulled off, Mike hadn't noticed it for a moment, but now... A side pocket on his backpack was glowing for some reason. "Huh?" He kept only one thing in there normally... an engagement ring he'd bought years ago, with an unusually-colored stone mounted in the setting. It had ended up in that pocket because he was conflicted about actually using it, but it was too expensive to simply throw away, and he had no intention of selling it. "What's this?" And why was this important in the middle of what might be the most important and/or last fight of his life?

A harsh laugh echoed out from the knight at the sight of another colossal metal beast to oppose his own. He had not expected this, but who was he to pass up so perfect a chance for a duel? The stone in the pommel of his blade glinted as he pointed it towards the opposing Aggron.

"Very well then, your challenge is accepted! Aggron, show him your power! Iron Head!"

He turned his attention then to the Absol, growling slightly.

"Defend yourself!"

Again Aegislash changed stances back to its defensive form, but whether or not the Shield was in time to negate the damage was an entirely different question.

"Lich, Kraken, you know what to do."

Garland began to gather his energy.

The enemy charged, racing towards Mega-Stolloss with all the fury that a creature of that size could muster. Horns atop its head gleaming, it aimed to gouge its enemy. It would not succeed. That last strike had punched through the Aegislash's shield this time. Another shot like that and it'd be down. The enemy team seemed to have trouble connecting with anything solid... If they could just hold the opening a little longer they'd have this battle won! One more Night Slash was all Cassandra needed, the Absol putting every bit of power she could into it... [Back to normal overall accuracy, but 0, 2, and 4 still crit because high chances.]

Mike would love to check the glow coming from that ring he had stowed away, but there wasn't really time. If they got a break between this fight and the next one, maybe he could do something... though even now the dark knight could still turn the tables and win.

The two forces of steel and nature clashed with a terrifying sound, the current level of heat just as useless as his own pokemon's attack had been. For now. As it always was, a battle could turn at any time.

But it was then his energy gathered and was unleashed once more to come forth in a blazing inferno to reveal a third fiend.

"Aggron, Iron head. Aegislash, Sacred Sword the Absol. Kraken, Lich, and Marilith, bathe them in your wrath!"

Again Aggron wrestled for dominance with the other beast, horns caving down in an attempt to destroy its opponent. At the same time Aegislash lashed out once again with a glowing blade and dangerous power at the dark type fighting with it.

And then came the fury of the elements. Waves of flame, water, and earth rose and clashed, combining into a maelstrom of destruction directed at his foes.

Garland continued to gather energy, forgoing an attack for another round to further bolster his forces.

"Someone get rid of that damned bird. I am tired of having to kill it!"

With their inner lights unleashed, both beasts were of equal size, and their attacks of equal ferocity. But Stolloss' military-grade diet made it the heavier of the two, and with that extra mass, he was able to put that much more force behind his blows. Unfortunately, greater force did not translate into greater accuracy; Mega-Stolloss' attack went wide, and the enemy was given enough time to dodge the flaming strike. The burning fist instead struck the ground, shattering the stone beneath the temple's foundation and sending flames outward to lick at the air. The enemy recovered, and charged again, only for Mega-Stolloss to once more to grab its foe's forward horn, blocking the attack. Hands still alight, the iron dinosaur let loose a great roar, gathering all its strength as it once more threw back the enemy, reeling back the right fist for another flaming right hook.

On the other side of the battlefield, things were looking less than ideal for Metagross. Unlike the previous opponents, this lich was uncanny in its tenacity- It had taken a powerful icy blow to the face and survived, and now, as though it had memorized Metagross' attacks, deftly slid to and fro dodging them. However, all this meant was that, in its mad dash to avoid being struck, it never took the time to take proper aim at its opponent, and thus the attacks it sent at Metagross went equally off course.

For a moment, the warhorse ran an internal debate as to whether it should deviate from its orders and aid Stolloss in taking down its ascendant rival, or whether it should stay the course that master had given it and continue to fight until the lich had been put down. In the end, orders won out, and with a great heave, it once more swung its icy forelimbs down at the enemy.

With the Gravity worn off, all of the Pokemon on the field were back to their usual states. Those that normally flew could once again take to the air, and everyone was at their usual dodging efficiency. This could make the fight drag on longer than intended...

Cassandra, Mike's Absol, was still putting up the best fight she could. She was focused on cutting through the defenses of the opposing team's Aegislash with Night Slashes, her Razor Claw and Super Luck maximizing her chances. [Normal accuracy reigns once more; 0, 2, or 4 crit due to high crit odds.]

The rest of Mike's team had been able to catch a breather; only the enemy attacks that weren't picky about their targets were even doing anything, and that wasn't much either. Still, the trainer was starting to get worn out attempting to evade the brunt of the blows. At this rate he might not last through the next fight...

Powerful magic coursed through the two, drastically raising the Articuno's offensive power. Freshly formed ice crystals enveloped them like an aura, partially obscuring what seemed to be an actual, plainly visible, dark aura.

"Now, don't hold anything back! Blizzard!"

With the global environment now looking more favourable, the League has been in talks of reopening to challengers at a global level. Our League Champion has, for the past year now, gotten the notion in her head that officially adding the Holon Islands to the league challenge would significantly increase participation, as well as create favourable economic conditions for the rest of the Pacific Islands as well, and she asks that you consider her suggestion."

Pausing for but a moment to catch her breath, the short woman continued "I understand the concern of allowing Holon species into the hands of trainers at large, but consider also the possible economic benefits this inclusion could bring to the islands before shooting this idea down."

Turns out that zombies trying to drag you down and suffocate you in thick batter is a great motivator. Garland plows through the muck and into the gates, walking right into the backline of the fight. "Oh hey! The clown isn't here, does that mean I blew him up? Wait."

The league's rep own speech would soon be answered by the Rep for the Environment, who's representative would signal that his own presentation was next.

The former Pokemon Ranger would step forwards into the light and draw his own notes from the pocket of his suit, the dark skin and lines across his face showing the years of work outdoors in his younger years. He'd pause to clear his throat before speaking.

"To answer the question for the league."

"The league has always understood that the risk of the Delta species escaping to the world at large has been the largest reason against any large scale opening our region to the outside world, it goes to say that the other leagues have always found our Delta pokemon to be a fluke of design and something that could put their own league challenges at risk."

He frowned there.

"However, the longer we attempt to with hold them the more attractive this region becomes to pokemon poachers, one way or another the Delta species will end up in the hands of trainers, if so it would be best if it's in a manner of our own control."

He paused a moment. "As long as we can put in careful clauses regarding the usage of Delta species I believe we can reassure the Global leagues that we aren't planning on ruining their strategies or breaking the game as they say."

Thus far the villainous of the two knights had found little success even after significantly balancing the odds in his favor. This time around the freezing wind was enough to do some real damage, the Fiends Garland was directing taking a hefty hit from it and icing over. Another laugh rattled out from his helm though, and grew even louder at the sight of another summon, even as the jaws closed down on his armor before he could move away. Damaging as the blow was, it was not enough to stop him.

Once more the spectral sword scored a solid strike, the team effort sending Cassandra across the room. Sliding on the floor to a stop against the far wall, the Absol was in no shape to even get up, much less continue the fight.

Once again the many strikes from his foes were fended off, though the flaming punch and the taunt had caught his Aggron and Aegislash off guard. This was going to be a bit more interesting than expected, especially with Marilith still reeling from that last blow.

That, however, would not stop him.

"Kraken and Tiamat, target the fool of a knight before he finishes another summon!"

A torrential wave of water once more lashed out from the writhing tentacles of the Kraken and was shortly followed by another blast of torrential wind from Tiamat.

The singed Aggron made his move as well, lashing out with another attempt at a crippling blow from his horns and Aegislash followed suit with a ghostly slash at the newest foe trying to harm him.

And once more Garland added his own damage to the mix, a Sleep spell to interrupt the knight in his attacks.

Taunt hits turn one of three.

As the added strikes brought low both Marilith and his Aegislash, the knight laughed. Soon things would be getting interesting. As soon as they managed to fell Tiamat and Kraken he could show them his true power and potentially end this battle.

"You have done well to defeat two of my fiends! But can you persevere and stop the final two? Again! Wash them away!"

A flash of red also replaced his Aegislash with the slightly wounded Magnezone that had been until now still waiting within his ball after the Dragon Tail that removed it originally.

"Discharge."

Garland gathered up his energy and let it burst in a fiery explosion, pushing more energy into it to increase the area, even it it was at the cost of some power.

Gaspar frowned as the Water impacted him, with the electrical Discharge further injuring him. The Gengar was still on his spectral feet, but he was running out of stamina. With Aegislash out of the way, though, he was free to employ one of his more insidious techniques. Instead of going for raw firepower, he had thrown a Confuse Ray at Evil Garland himself. Maybe he could cause a distraction...

In the meantime, that Muddy Water was washing away the stamina of more than just the active Gengar. Mike himself was feeling the fatigue of trying to resist being washed away by so much water; Paula, the one Gardevoir he still had out, wasn't faring much better. There was much cursing and gnashing of teeth when the troublesome Skarmory Erco had been facing down healed itself and prolonged this engagement even further. Wasting more time that they didn't have. To make matters worse an explosion from somewhere behind them temporarily deafened the man, making his ears ring as he fought off the second's-late reaction to cup them. Course rock bounced off of both him and the walls, seems that someone behind them had caught up. Still, not as bad as it could have been.

His own voice sounded distant and distorted when he commanded his cradily to continue hammering the bird with HP rock. By now he was getting ready to tackle the thing himself so the officer could run by, but he didn't imagine himself out of the woods quite yet.

Garland scowled at all the blows coming towards him and lifted his sword in a defensive fashion. Light wrapped around him and, for the time being at least, defended him with a Protega. At least it did the job of stopping an attack for the time being.

Mike's team braced themselves for an incoming impact... That never descended on them. For some reason they weren't the targets this time. The reason soon became clear; the dragon fiend on the enemy side was lashing out at random. This left Gaspar with just enough of an opening to throw a counterattack out.

The enemy Garland had done well to protect himself; further pursuit would be pointless at the moment. This meant Gaspar could turn his attention to more immediate threats... like the Kraken. It had done well to wash away much of his friends' resistance, but the Gengar had had enough of that. The attack from last turn had been only a momentary diversion; Mike's team was up against the full force of one fiend's flaming assault. Gaspar had no more stamina left to fight with, the Gengar falling over and landing face-up.

Mike had been fortunate to not take any of the attack himself, though Paula had to throw herself in front to prevent that. The Gardevoir was out of stamina herself, still conscious but now on her knees.

A new Pokemon needed to be called out soon, but who to pick? He'd need a moment to think about this one... No matter who he chose they'd be vulnerable to one type of enemy attack or another, so he'd have to go with the team member open to the fewest enemies. This meant Cynthia, his Garchomp, would be taking the field once again. The land shark rushed at the enemy knight with a Dragon Claw, aiming to cut right through that armor.

Flo was struck by the Aggron and sent flying, the sword dragged behind her. BM took out her Pokeball and returned her after being swiftly KO'd - the sword returning with her. Taking out his Rocket Pokedex he fiddled with it, holding it to the weak PT and using the glitch energy to make it do things it was never supposed to do - like move a held item into a ball already containing a held item. Taking up said ball he tossed it out. His Meganium was keeping up against the fire and ice magic, but frozen in place.

From the tossed ball emerged an Aggron, aqua blue hide replacing the usual slate grey. On one shoulder the steel beast has rested a massive black axe, and on the other she carries Garland's blade. Starting to run at the larger Mega Aggron, the steel beast builds up momentum and ends the charge in a spinning strike, Garland's sword transforming into the shape of the axe it swings alongside. She aims to sweep out the foe's legs and prevent a counterattack.

Hopefully it wasn't fucked up enough that it could still provide a ride home, once the mission was over.
