What are some mechanics from past games that you really liked but haven't returned?

For me it was the seals from DP. I liked them a lot but I hardly see people discuss them or ask for them back.

Seasons. It's was a nice addition to the games, not to mention there's a Pokemon(Sawbuck) that has a special mechanic woth the seasons.

That was fucking insufferable in black and white. The best change Gen VI made was returning to the dinging foe 3 seconds then shutting the hell up.

Please no, I hated everytime it got to the the gym leader final music, elite 4 theme or PWT tune it just suddenly got cut and that played. It killed the moment especially if you healed up, the normal theme played and they get you right back to low health and it played again. If it was sort of blended in maybe but it was god awful on its own after the first dozen times.

If they had any effect then you'd complain they are forcing you to play doll.

Meanwhile they're already built in the 3D engine (since ORAS has them too but doesn't allow to use them) so it's not like they'd take much time in each game's developement.
There is no reason NOT to have it in a game that isn't a remake.

It is said seals were probably removed because of fears people would arrange them to display FUCK YOU when thrown. The same applies to Chatot. It couldn't be played online for a while because while low quality, you could still make it say fuck you. After a while they just set Chatter to be unusable.

I liked the idea too but as usual the execution was sort of meh. There were only 5 or so locations where it actually mattered, and the change in Pokemon distribution was unnoticeable. Fucking GameFreak.

I wish Gamefreak would actually commit to a new mechanic for once instead of half-assing it. We'll probably never get a game where the seasons, time of day and random weather conditions all have a huge effect on the kind of Pokemon you can encounter.
