I do like XY to some extent, and I think the lack of postgame is somewhat excusable by them being the first games of their generations. However there are two things that realy brings it down for me:

Because after the second gym the game progressed way too fast. I was expecting the game to be longer because between the first two gyms there was a lot of stuff to do before progressing with your badges.

Shitty, boring region part is all up to opinion. Kalos has some interesting places, like the Pokeball Factory, Route 14, Anistar Sundial among others. We got 72 new pokemon plus 28 megas, so in total we got about 100 new pokemon. The true shame is you couldn't collect the mega stones until post-game, but maybe that'll change since ORAS let you get them from the very beginning. Lots of forgettable characters but that can be fixed. All the problems Kalos has can be fixed, and they'll have a lot of time to fix them too since the entire Kalos map and all the 3D models are made.

The Pokeball factory was a good idea in concept, but shit in execution. Most of the routes are uninteresting. Most of the towns are easily forgotten.

3 of which are events, and like 10 of which are version exclusives. In a given playthrough, you've got ~55 new 'mons to choose from, 45 if you refuse to use Fairies.

Most of the major problems CAN'T be fixed. Fairies, a crappy region, and 72 new Pokemon being the main turn offs.

Dragon wasn't an OP type, it was just above average. If you couldn't deal with them, then you should just git gud. It's not the type at fault, it was Garchomp, Dragonite, and the legendaries.

After like the second gym you just breeze through the next 4 or so with pretty much 0 story or any development whatsoever. It takes literally half the time to get the remaining 6 badges that it took to get the first 2.

I don't see how anyone can defend this. The game poses 0 challenge whatsoever. IIRC not a single trainer has 6 pokemon except the obligatory Magikarp guy & the Champion.
The new Exp share is stupid but optional so it's a minor point.
None of your rivals feel like actual rivals. They're just shitty children you're forced to babysit. I don't mind so much that they're snotty kids but at least make them Emerald Wally (or even fucking Bianca) levels of competent. Fighting him later on was fun.
The removal of the challenge key from B/W2 was such a disappointment as well. Playing with that on actually made the game a lot more fun without imposing Nuzlock-esque rules on yourself.

Literally tacked on at the end with no development. IMO crystal/RSE had the best legendary pokemon development. gen 4 wasn't bad either iirc.
I threw a premier ball at Yveltal with full hp and caught it. I wtf'd and SR'ed hoping for an actual challenge only to catch it again with my first premier ball at red hp with no status effects. Very disappointing.

C'mon. Seriously. This is such a valid point, I dunno why people make a big deal about this. Pretty much every gen except gen1 had a decent postgame outside of Battle Tower. All you have to do here is the hax Maison, Zygarde and it's literally GG. There's no excuse for having LESS content than what was in previous titles. If anything it should have at least been on par with B/W1 or Platinum.
>Dark and Ghost lose 'not effectiveness' on Steel
I didn't like this balance decision, but I see why it was necessary. I think Dark should have retained it's non-effectivenss to Steel.

Overall I think X/Y was an experiment in failed hype. They tried too much too quickly and because of that we got a very half-assed all-around game, as opposed to an amazing, or amazingly focused product.

ORAS just confirmed it. The lack of a Battle Frontier, and the continuation of this trend of super easy story games is pretty upsetting, but at least they had their own cool points, Soaring, Primal Reversion, Secret Bases, Contests. etc.
