>>23022194The thing about Mystery Dungeon is that the mechanics of it are so radically different from the main series games. Sure you have all the same mons in the game, type effectiveness is the same (for Gen III), there's still leveling up, evolution, TMs, items. However, the game focuses on your team going into areas with randomly generated maps, and your enemies consist of wild pokemon who are always spawning and can attack you from any way they can, making multiple wild pokemon attacking you something to look out for. It's fairly fun mainly because it explores a whole different alternate pokemon world, and does a fairly good job with immersing the player into said world. Though, the dungeon crawling can get a bit boring after a while since that's the only thing you do, and some of the post-game dungeons are tedious as FUCK (read: any required post-game dungeon with 99 floors). But, all in all, it's a pretty neat game, and the soundtrack is pretty fucking nice, considering it is GBA/early DS.
