The only thing I can think of is the monster recruiting system in DQ5 and maybe DQ4 if you stretch it. Other than that I don't see anything else.

Quite a lot

- Poison damage, in and outside battle, among other status effects
- Surf (you use a boat in DQ)
- Dive
- the little patches of grass that look EXACTLY the same
- Monster taming (though i heard SMT did this first)
- Fly/Teleport (Zoom)
- STAT enhancers such as protein, rare candies (Seeds)

Oh man, I'm pretty sure the list goes on.

It just adds up. I can't play these games without noticing it and the amount of flak Digimon gets for ripping off Pokémon when Pokémon also ripped of other RPGs is absurd.

I replayed 3 recently and I get what OP is saying, but really its more of just generic qualities of a JRPG. Both are iconic and good series, but they're way too different, and in a sence anything Pokemon stole from it is more of borrowed.

When stuff like Repel works exactly like Holy Water and Poison damage works inside and outside of battle just like Pokémon, it's hard not to notice the strong "inspiration" GameFreak took from Enix.

Lol dude you're a fucking retard and I'll tell you why. JRPGs are almost always the same game with just a few mechanic changes, and some of the mechanics become staple to the genre. Its OK for other games to "copy" of prior works, simply because they usualy bring something else to the table; Pokemon with the catch and battle monsters, Mother with the American scene and plot, Super Star Sega with precise button pressing when attacking, ect.
You can copy the essentials, as long as the game itself is unique

I don't think I've ever seen ANYONE accuse Digimon of being a Pokemon rip off. In fact last I checked everyone accused Megas of being a Digimon rip off which is stupid because Japan has had many franchises with monsters that change forms to get stronger, it's not exclusive to any series
