Are people really expecting remakes of remakes this generation? I keep seeing people on forum threads mentioning that they're waiting for Kanto re-remakes and shit. Why? Seriously, why do people want more remakes? Why not move ahead and get new stories in old regions, or games with multi-regional travel?

I don't think anyone really unironically expects kanto remakes at least in this gen. We already had gen 3 remakes. Besides kanto a shit, the region is so fucking empty.

Tell that to the Bulbagarden forums. Seems like about 50% of people are expecting Kanto, while 49% expect Sinnoh, and the other 1% are like "Guys can we get new stuff?" and get overwhelmed.

Well that's obvious to everyone. The thing to question is what comes after that. Currently we are on the GBA path. 1 new gen.(Hoeen/Kalos) then a remake (FRLG/ORAS), if they go by that trend then afterwards Gen.7 is what comes next.

That's the point. We had a new game, and then the remakes.

BUT, the games that were remade, were also paired with a set of remakes when they were new.

Gen 1: R/G/B/Y
Gen 2: G/S/C
Gen 3: R/S/E + FR/LG
Gen 4: D/P/P + HG/SS
Gen 5: B/W/B2/W2
Gen 6: X/Y + OR/AS + FR/LG remakes.
Gen 7: Whatever + D/P Remakes + HG/SS Remakes

It's just genwunners who won't let go. We already got the remake of this generation, next one will be Sinnoh and that'll be years from now. On top of that XY is basically a tribute game to Kanto. There's no reason to remake remakes, it's not as if the franchise is flagging in sales right now.

Instead create new regions, moves, abilities without creating anymore Pokemon.

Make a new region while using random starters, a random yet fun Pokedex with legendary Pokemon that could tie in to the region.

We have too many Pokemon. They've become bland and boring. There are so many to choose from already, it would be fun to see what kind of Pokedex GF could make out of 151 using Pokemon from all gens.

because people in this fandom are retards that want constant rehashes and somehow don't know how to simply replay previous games.

I've NEVER seen or been in another video game fanbase that wants fucking remakes of EVERYTHING as much as the Pokemon fanbase does. It's cancerous and ridiculous.

Like shit, at least ask for sequels instead of complete remakes if you just want the region. GS/BW2 already proved you could revisit a region without it being a fucking remake.

People want remakes because the new regions and stories have gotten MORE hand-holdy as the series went on. Even without the Battle Frontier, OR/AS is much better than XY in terms of in-game content and challenge (if you don't use EXP share and stay consistently underleveled, versus the same rules for XY).
Personally, I also am excited for a hypothetical Sinnoh remake because the Underground is a perfect fit for your online friends / Passerby.

With the levelling off of new pokemon, and the need to introduce more Megas for old pokemon... it actually makes sense to remake Kanto (and Johto, and the rest) for the 3DS.

Even with post gen I evolutions of kanto pokemon the regional Pokedex would be 180 Pokemon. That's even less than ORAS had. And a lot of those are baby Pokemon so you wouldnt be able to catch them, you'd have to breed them. Insane diversity

Older generations can be Mega-retconned like Hoenn was, and they can update it to 3D while introducing Megas on pokemon occurring in those games.

Think about it:
>Kanto
Lots of Gen 1 megas
A few megas from other gens
>Johto
Lots of Gen 2 megas
A few megas from other gens
>Sinnoh
Lots of Gen 4 megas
A few megas from other gens
>Unova
Lots of gen 5 megas
A few megas from other gens

I absolutely don't want this to happen, but it'd be a very easy way for (the very lazy) Gamefreak to make effort-free remakes while adding enough little new material to force people to keep buying new games.

So? XY got 70 new Pokemon while megas from all generation got scattered through all 6 gen games. XY and ORAS already got us 50 megas: mostly from generations I-III but that's not the end as Z/X2Y2 will surely deliver more. We dont need another Kanto remakes for that. Sinnoh remakes most likely will happen but in a few years, not now

All they'd have to do is switch to 3D graphics - routes and maps and stuff is already pre-prepared. Add a bunch of Megas. Redesign old admins into better characters. Add a couple of new gimmicks. Bam! Millions of dollars in the bag with minimal effort.

LOL, how the fuck do remakes fix this? ORAS is just as easy and hand holdy as X and Y were. If you want less hand holding Emerald is by far the best Hoenn game to play.

I'd love a standalone Johto region (no access to Kanto) with expanded areas north of Olivine/Ecruteak, better level scaling, and better pokemon distribution.

Sinnoh is awesome design wise, unfortunately it was represented in similar graphics to Gen3 for some reason. Also apart from Wifi features there was nothing new at all in Gen4. I suppose you could count underground. That is pretty shocking if you think about it. The game is basically Gen3 part 2. I think even Game Freak knew they should've done more since they made a new gen on the same system which was a first.

(Inb4 smogonfags scream the influence of the move split - that's metagame shit that a lot of kids probably didn't even notice.)

It would benefit well from a remake as the region has massive potential to shine under a modern art style and direction. It's one of the more vertical regions with Mt Coronet and the like, it should look nice with a graphical update.The soundfont was also kind of meh- despite the tracks themselves being good and making for some of the better remixes they sound like they are coming from a Gameboy Color.
