Going to be playing through Fire Red with access to trading. Looking for some opinions on Pokemon to use.

Marowak or Nidoking?
Jolteon or Raichu?
Gengar or Alakazam?
Charizard or Arcanine?
Blastoise, Gyarados, or Vaporeon?

Which do you prefer and why?

Thick Club causes crazy damage. I also just think it's a cooler mon in general.

No reason I chose it over Jolteon other than I just like it more. Both have kinda crappy coverage anyways.

Hypnosis in case you want to catch some stuff. Also, it's a pretty fun mon in general.

Just personal preference again. Gyarados and Vaporeon are great too.

Going by personal taste

Nidoking (Marowak is one of my least favorite Pokemon and I like Nidoking)

Raichu (same reasoning as above, just replace the names where appropriate)

Gengar (bro)

Either (too close)

Gyarados (I like its design the most out of the three, though I like all of them)

All pretty easy to get early game so your not hunting late game for your final team.
