The +5 doesn't add to the chance of capture, but it will make you S rank like crazy. Before I knew this, I had a bunch of stages I couldn S Rank, and I tried them a lot of times (Bronzong, Skarmory, Toxicroak several Megas and most notoriously Togekiss)
The Togekiss is basically impossible without the +5. It is 7 turns long and the closest I was to this was 2 turns remaining on several ocasions. The way the level overlays makes it difficult to have good combos without wasting a turn on breaking the ice that the Togekiss form.
With the + 5 however, the S Rank is guaranteed, you have to screw really bad.
Then I proceded to use the +5 on every other stage where I always came really close and got the S on all of them.
So basically: Bronzong 15 turns
Beat it in 10 turns with 5 turns remaining, not S
Beat it in 10 turns with 10 turns remaining, S
Also, sometimes I screwed up and wasted more than half the turns, then end with an incredible combo that won't stop skyrocketing the punctuation, but no S is given. Comeback late with less turns and lukewarm punctuation, and they give it to you.
Might be a design overlook, but it is like that.
