There is an incident in HGSS that first made me think so. A Youngster (Japanese name たんぱんこぞう - Shorts Brat) says something like "Don't call me a shorts brat, it's rude, at least call me a shorts kid" Of course, you go into battle and he is still a shorts brat, but the kid himself doesn't want to be seen that way. The protagonist might be stereotyping him as a shorts brat, and since we view the game world through his eyes he also appears as a brat to us, even though he himself may reject the stereotype.
So I think when you are looking at a Beauty character you aren't looking at the real person, the trainer class is just a symbol. This makes sense as online the player can even appear as Rich Kids and the like to other people. It's like a visage. Has anyone ever played Umineko no Naku Koro ni? In that story the narration is unreliable and two of the characters turn out to be the same person.
