I remember when mid evos where revealed and everyone hated this thing in favor of Frogadier and Braixen. I was one of the few that liked it, in fact Chesnaught was my ace in X.

Quilladin's great, it's Chesnaught I don't like. And even then, it's not that I dislike it, I just don't like it as a evolved form of Chesnut, it's a nice design but just 2different4me, like Samurott.

Grass starters arent half bad. I mean they're at least better than the fire starters considering they've had 3 fire/fights in a row and then a retarded ass wizard.

I got used to it quickly after noticing the concept art for it. It has a much more interesting design than almost all of the middle stages. Most of them either just get bigger with little design tweaks or became bipeds. Quilladin looks unique on it's own while still retaining the features and charm of Chespin. It also appears to be like the "pupa" of its line since the armor it wears becomes detached from it's body as Chesnaught. The Chespin line are some of the best designed starter lines since their designs and concepts aren't as bland and each of the members look unique on their own while looking like they evolved from each other.

And some of those Fire/Fighting Pokemon are quite competent. But far as this gen goes with all these hidden abilities, I'd say each and every starter is pretty okay at least, Johto however got fucked over the most
