>>23053759Headcanonically, I like to think of pokedex entries like the AKC standard for pokemon breeders. It has a lot of information that is either nearly correct or has a weird bias that puts a negative trait in a positive light. That means that there is a standard height or range of heights and a goal weight to consider your competition pokemon in "championship condition", which would also mean your guy could be overweight, underweight, runty, 'improved' by hybrid vigor, but often those would be considered faults and prevent you from having a champion herdier.
You also have to filter stupid pokedex facts through a filter of 'does this make sense' and fan art through 'is this cool?' and 'does this fit with the image the artist was trying to convey?'. Hell, there are times when the anime have thrown the 'facts' out the window, and you as an artist get to make that decision too. I mean, your artistic licence won't prevent people from critiquing your work and you're going to have bear the brunt of a bad artistic decision but its still your decision to make.
