Say, catching a level 15 Teddiursa might have been something an older fan did 10 years ago on his Silver, and now he can relive this on the remade version. This exact experience can be new and exciting for a younger fan since Teddiursa was uncommon in gen 3 and DP. Some downsides to this is that problems often carry over, and some prospects can feel and look extremely dated.
Gran Turismo does something largely similar. Most of the cars and some tracks in Gran Turismo 5 and 6 are simply carried over from the previous game. While they can keep the familiarity with older fans and have all types of cars(over 1200) for newcomers, some of the models are super dated since they came from the PSP game.
I don't think it was handled properly in ORAS, a lot of people were expecting Battle Frontier
but not me and they should have delivered on that front.
