Could someone explain the tourney to us newbies? I just got into these threads and I wanna get in on this.

>>23073982 Here's a basic run down. You build your team of 6 pokemon which all have to share a single type. It can be their primary or secondary, and also, if their type changes when they mega evolve, they can be on that type as well. For example, Gyarados can be on a dark team; the only stipulation is that they are required to hold the mega stone. Other than that, you cannot have any legendary pokemon on your team. No exceptions.
Once the tourney starts, you fight a best of 3 round against the people you're matched up with, with the battle being a 3v3 with flat rules. If you don't know what flat rules are, look them up.
Typically, the tourney has been a double-elimination style one. Once the last person standing for the 18 different types has been decided, a new set of rounds for those 18 people begin, and that will ultimately decide the top 8 people, and thus, the 8 gyms for the challenge.

If your opponent is a no show and you have proof of contact etc, you'll get given a result as if you had won that battle. The no show will then be removed from the tournament.
If both players are somewhat active but can't organise a 10-20 minute period to battle over the time frame, both players receive a loss.
There will be zero catch up games this coming season.
